not a happy site......

I wanted to visit Winchester Town and this site is very convenient for it. The bus stop is located a 10 minute walk away and that is what is good about the site. It is located ON THE ROUNDABOUT, the small exit off the roundabout is very hard to find especially in a Motorhome and I ended up going up the main Arlesford Road like many other outfits I saw and the Sat Nav turning me back.... Once the site is found then it is obvious. I arrived in March and it had been relatively dry, however at reception I was given a very 'hard sell' to buy some traction mats for my Motorhome, otherwise 'our tractor is not big enough to pull you out when you get stuck', it is all grass. So I bought a set of Traction mats for £16.50 from the reception. I could not pay by card, I had to pay cash(?) I later found out you can buy exactly the same mats 'Mega Grip' Traction grip mats for £10.45 on E bay. I was not impressed as I did not need the mats at all. Yes they may come in handy later but I would rather not have been panicked into buying them..... The Dog Walk is dreadful. It is a narrow strip of land under 6 large trees. The top of these trees are home to about 50 Crows. 25 nests and 25 sets of nesting Crows, the resulting deposits from their backsides means you have to dodge the droppings as they drop....a disposable Kagool would be advisable. Then at 5am they Crows 'kickoff' their raucous noise was horrendous, what with that and the noise from the traffic on the roads made this a very unpleasant stay. As for the showers....well as previously commented upon, I could not bend over to take my socks off without my rear end meeting the door, I could not open or shut the door without stepping into the shower tray, there is not bench and everything gets wet.....the heating was off in the evening and blasting out during the day....... the only good thing is the South Downs Way access is nest to the Science Centre in a well hidden path just to the right of the Science building......however only this is reached by walking alongside a very busy A road my ......
