Disappointing stay this time

My wife and I had been to this site a few weeks ago and, as we live in Poole, thought it would be a good choice to return with our two 10 year old twin grandchildren for a couple of days away. The good points first. 1) Very convenient for visiting the Science Park and Planetarium which are a 5 minute walk away. 2) Also handy for getting the bus to either Winchester or Alton as the bus stop is also a 5 minute walk and the service is every 30 minutes. 3) Generally the site is reasonably quiet at night. 4) The staff were very friendly, approachable and apologetic regarding the lack of facilities. Now for the disappointing parts: 1) when we arrived we were told that only one toilet block was available. The reason being that there was a problem with the sewage system which served the toilets on the lower levels. That meant that, in the gents and ladies, there was only three toilets each for the whole site (which also caters for campers who have no option but to use the toilet/shower block) . Plus there was only two showers each available! Not very good Caravan Club for a site with a lot of pitches The gents facilities are a bit outdated and with a clingy shower curtain which stuck to you once you turned the water on. The water temperature was very tricky to get right. One second you had too hot then fine then suddenly freezing cold. My wife said that it was the same in the ladies facilities with an added bonus of a few cracked tiles. However, would we return? Probably, but not with our grandchildren.

Comment from the Club

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are glad that you found the staff friendly but are really sorry to read that you found the closure of one of the toilet and shower blocks impeded the enjoyment of your stay. The site staff have been in touch to advise the toilet block was out of action on Tuesday 14th, for 3 hours and was fully functional after that time frame and both toilet blocks are now open.  We hope that you come back to visit the site again soon and thank you again for taking the time to leave a review.

As has been posted before Morn Hill is "hanging on" as Winchester council  are still sitting on their hands as to whether they are going to renew the lease of the top site or give it over to a "traveller?" site so the club are very reticent to put any money in to either part of the site until the lease for the top site is sorted (the bottom site is owned by the club)
