Out of control children and cramped pitches!
This site is like two totally different sites all in one. One side is cramped and you're packed in like sardines and the other side is what you'd expect a club site to be like. Initially we pitched on the cramped side and felt so, so uncomfortable! Felt like we couldn't move or do anything because we'd inconvenience the other people in our are, we moved pitches the following day and what a difference it made! No road noise and the usual, club-standard size pitches. It looks as though they're half way through renovating the site, perhaps when they start on the other side they could get rid of a few pitches so you feel like you can actually breathe without your neighbour knowing about it.
Facilities were good and always very clean.
I think the club made a mistake with the 'experience freedom' area. The yurts/safari tents are right next to the play area and take up a lot of space which I guess used to be the playing field?
Children were often in the dog walk, ruining the experience for my dog as she's a little nervous and doesn't appreciate children charging up to her when we're on a field for dogs! Not to mention our last dog walk being ruined by some children walking their dog offlead in the dog area, allowing him to charge around the field chasing every dog it sees, even nipping my nervous dog on the tail a few times. I did tell the children to put him on a lead and they were cheeky saying that it says "Dogs are free to roam"... Yes they are but not when you've zero control over them and allow them to harass other dogs! Their dog did this to several other dogs when we were there too. Yes I know this isn't the club's fault, mainly their parents but again, these people were from the 'experience freedom' pods and maybe have no idea how you're actually supposed to behave when caravanning?! Maybe the dog walk should be policed better by the wardens as it totally ruined our experience.
Sadly we won't be returning to this site, maybe we'll try Burford if we ever fancy the Cotswolds again. Really saddening visit.
