Genuine Honest Review.
We've just had a brief stay (4 nights in August) at this Caravan & Motorhome site. It's one of the larger sites with over a hundred pitches, there's also an area for tents, Glamping Lodges & a kids play area. On arrival, as always, the site manager showed us a map with directions to our pitch. Normally, I would drive straight to it, but this place was like a maize with the signs seemingly sending us round in circles. I'm told it's because the site keeps being extended and signs haven't been updated to compensate. I thought I was losing the plot but spoke to other campers during the week who said they were still trying to get to grips with the layout & the signage could definitely be improved/updated. There are several stations for rubbish, grey waste & drinking water. However, some water filling points are only for caravans. I couldn't really see why motorhomes were excluded, I thought water was water, who knew? 🙄 Anyway, I was told in no uncertain terms to use the ones specifically for motorhomes, rather petty I thought. The hoselock fittings had been removed from all the taps as they apparently get stolen, so I was told if I wanted one, I could purchase one from their shop. These fittings are basic, and for £2.50 I really feel they should be supplied.
The 1st pitch we were given was close to the toilets & and showers as we'd requested, but also surrounded by trees. Our satellite couldn't pick up a signal & the signal for normal TV is awful unless, of course, you bought the long coaxial cable & plugged into their charging pillar, available from their shop. We were offered other pitches and we found one where the satellite would work. Please note, pitches close to the road can be a bit noisy, so not great if you're trying to get young children to sleep. The internet and mobile phone signals are terrible, but you can sign into their free service, you just have to reconnect every hour. There's also a premium service at extra cost. On the positive side, toilets and showers were clean, although very dated, and even with the site being fairly busy, they were still available. The lawns were cut while we were there and the hedges were trimmed, sadly first thing in the morning while we we're trying to eat our breakfast outside. There's loads of wildlife with rabbits running freely through the park, completely unfazed by the visitors. They have mobile food vans arriving on various nights, check the blackboard for times etc. The pizza was lovely, but the fish & chips was average and for £15 each, I thought it was rather expensive. We don't pay that for Scampi or Plaice from our local shop. The site is well located, a 10 minute walk to Moreton, 35 minutes drive to Stratford Upon Avon, 30 minutes to Bourton-on-the- Water and about 25 minutes to Clarkson's Farm Shop. Overall, for location, it was worth staying at this site. Would we return, absolutely not, so for that reason, we couldn't hand on heart recommend it. Staff have lost connection with visitors.
