Over all a good weekend

Stayed here for the weekend. I had a call from the site (well I didn't know for sure that it was as the site phone number isn't in my phone) The lady wanted paying before we arrived I was very hesitant because of the above reason you never know these days. Apparently the club require payment before your stay and if you don't pay by 10.15 the next morning the club cancel the rest of your stay and the site staff can't book it for you. Anyway we arrived at 6.30pm and site office was closed so they pinned an envelope to a board by reception however the warden arrived and uttered a few words and was grumpy to be honest. However when my husband went to pay the next morning the wardens were both chatty and helpful and are going to do their own travelling in there van. When we left he said goodbye to us which you don't get very often. It transpires that the clubs new booking system is such that it is almost impossible to use so you have to phone them up. I booked 3 sites for next year over the phone £75 in advance and wanted to take the rest of the payment the day before, I said no to this and that I would pay the balance on arrival. When my husband was speaking to the warden's the sites are running at 40% because people book several in advance with no intention of going so they now lose £25 but these are the people who aren't bothered about money so the £25 upfront per site doesn't help. All it does is make it more of a struggle for the genuine people like ourselves who can't come because a child is ill but don't have money to waste. The new booking system needs major work it is basically a ferry booking service and has been slightly modified but the club hasn't paid the money to make it bespoke to them so it is constantly getting the wrong dates and if you take too long it cancels everything out of your basket anyway! The club charge horrendous prices for sites these days and rave about how wonderful the new booking system is but it is actually awful. As you've probably gathered I'm not a fan of this new booking system on a few levels. It doesn't work. Site staff phone you up for payment beforehand which isn't how it should work and now the site staff can't book your stay themselves then that causes other issues as they then can't extend your stay. Although there isn't much to this site and the two pubs in walking distance have now closed we would still go back to the site if there was nowhere else to go.
