Pleasant Easter Break

If you want a pleasant, quiet, idyllic site with excellent views all around this is where to go. We arrived on Easter Sunday afternoon, and were welcomed by the warden Colin. We found the perfect pitch for us and settled in, our friends arrived a couple of hours later and were able to pitch opposite us. The site was quite full, but still peaceful. Colin and his wife did a great job of keeping the facilities and the site clean and tidy, We were able to get a bus into Hereford. We went in our friends Motorhome to Brecon, Merthyr Tidfil for the Brecon Mountain Railway, Hay on Wye, a lovely village to explore. We also went to Worcester, and Hop Pocket shopping area. A well worth visit was to the Cider Museum in Hereford, very interesting and a nice cafe. We visited Woebley and explored the village, and went to the local Chinese Restaurant at Credenhill which we would recommend, just a short car ride from the site. We did find that Pubs and Restaurants we looked at in the villages did not serve meals until 6 pm in the evening. We coped with no wifi or phone signal, but wonder if it would be a good idea to have a public phone box on the site. Would not hesitate to recommend this site.

Short stop

My annual one night stop on my way to Wonderwool Wales. Good site, friendly wardens and clean facilities. Everything I needed.

lovely weekend

We arrive friday evening about 7.30 but this was not a problem or nuisance for the wardens. This was a quiet time for the site so it was lovely and peaceful. Nice clean and warm toilet block and very well maintained services. Immaculately kept grounds by warden couple who were always friendly and approachable. We walked to a lovely pub for lunch at Staunton on Wye, but be aware it doesn't open until one ona saturday. We will definitely be back.

Week before Easter

Had a really nice and quiet time here. Wardens were most friendly, chatty and helpful. Lots of walks available and site seeing. There are a few National Trust places within a few miles and they are really good. Recommend a visit to 'The Wier' which is only about 4 miles away. No internet and very poor mobile phone reception, television was ok on BBC but dodgy on any others. But hey, thats why its quiet, we loved it. Marian & Gerry Dawson

Easter weekend break

My wife and I visited Moorhampton Caravan Park with our dog for a 3 night break over the Easter weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The site wardens were very helpful and willing to offer recommendations on places to eat etc. There is also an information building with walks, wall mounted maps which I took photo's of and local places of interest to visit. The facilities, were a little dated in appearance, BUT, they were spotlessly clean, the showers were hot and powerful. All in all a lovely site and set in amongst peaceful and beautiful countryside. I would recommend this site.

Relaxing Break

We have been to this site before so knew what to expect,we were in pitch 42,first on the right as you go into site.(Thanks to the chap at no 41 for the help pushing caravan onto pitch). The site is usually quiet with the odd tractor/cars and lorrys. We were right next to the road under a tree near to the bridge. The Orchard walk is OK and there's lots of local birds which left their calling card on my car.I think they were using it for target practice. There no shops nearby, you have to travel to Leominster or Hereford.Nice large Morrisons/cheap petrol at Leominster. As my wife says it's a DIY site, don't expect Chip vans/Food vans coming in as on larger sites. But their is a very good Indian restaurant/takeaway at Weobly village about 6 miles away.Wardens were friendly and site is well kept although toilet block needs some updating.Would recommend this site for a quiet break to get away from things. Not to worried about lack of Wifi.

Peace & Quiet

Just home form 5 nights over Easter weekend at Moorhampton. We last stayed here about 8 or 9 years ago so it was a long overdue return. As expected, the site was pretty full over the Bank Holiday weekend, but you wouldn't have guessed that - it was very peaceful and quiet and we woke to the sounds of birdsong in the hedges behind us each morning. There's no wifi and we only had a very limited TV signal from pitch 30 (no bad thing really!) The facilities were never over stretched and the whole site is obviously very well cared for by the single pair of wardens. The site is in a great area for walking, although it's fairly limited form the site itself ( the wardens have produced details of a nice 4 mile circular walk through the orchards opposite the site and then along quiet country lanes). But within a very short driving distance are a wide variety - we drove to both Bridge Sollars and Breinton Springs (just outside Hereford) for walks along the banks of the River Wye. Also to the nearby village of Weobley which has some very picturesque black and white framed buildings set around the little village green. Slightly further afield, at Kington, you can walk to the top of Hergest Ridge, not a particularly steep climb, to be rewarded with outstanding views in all directions. This is a very underrated area to spend time in and hopefully it won't be as long before we return again.

Fab site

We stayed here for 4 nights from the 10.4.17 till the 14.4.17 so that we could visit some of our family who lived fairly locally. We had a really lovely stay, the site is very peaceful and about half full for most of the stay, only filling up to capacity on the last night ready for the Easter weekend. Our pitch was number 41, on the right hand side as you go into the site which meant we were pretty well on our own until the last night. Both wardens were really friendly and helpful and actively sort out feedback to make any improvements as needed. Our dog throughly enjoyed the Orchard! TV reception was good, mobile intermittent - which isn't necessarily a bad thing - and I understand wifi will be available sometime over the summer. Many thanks for a lovely stay.

An excellent small site, Very helpful wardens, good facilities. Many places to visit with 30 mile radius. 4 NT sites,, as well as Hereford, Hay on Wye, Leominster and Ludlow, Woebly is a gem with an excellent pub "The Salutation Arms" , superb food and an owner chef. Will certainly revisit in the future.

Not quite...

In an ideal location for exploring NT properties, Hereford, Leominster and numerous other local villages and landscapes. The site was immaculately kept, as have been all other CC sites that I have stayed on and very nearly empty, as others have said. The toilet/shower block was always spotless, and no, it's not the most modern decor or fittings, but it works and is functional (mind you, I'm not sure it sees a whole lot of use.) However... One of the reasons we picked this site was plenty of other reviewers saying how quiet and peaceful it was. I cannot in all honesty say that was the case while we spent our two weeks there (24/9 - 9/10). Yes, the site itself is very quiet indeed, and in the middle of the night the owls screeching nearly scared me to death. BUT... every single daytime and well into dusk while we were there there was significant road noise from the nearest A road, almost constant tractor and HGV noise and the warden chose a Sunday afternoon to cut the grass on his ride-on. The orchard across the road was great for off lead dog walks (the 'dog walk' on site is ridiculously small - a token gesture I think) but only until the apple harvest started and then it's more or less a no-go. Go to Credenhill Park Woods for a really good walk. Make sure you have all your essentials! The office doesn't sell a single item other than a newspaper, no chems/gas/loo roll, nothing. Not even laundry detergent for the on-site laundry room. When I asked where I could get something caravan specific, the wardens didn't know. It would be useful if the wardens posted a print out of the weather forecast, I did ask about it, and they didn't seem interested in letting me know. As others have said there is no WiFi/3G/4G (but I did just scrape a 'G' signal on EE - sometimes) No TV hook-up either if you want that. In summary, a great site let down by little things especially background noise in our case.
