Good for families

Poor road access

This is a nice site with excellent wardens but I would not go here again with a motorhome and certainly not a caravan as the road access is not good. Yes its doable but getting to and from site can be stressful. This site in my opinion would be best served as a static site or glamping site so the only access is via car. The roads are not suitable for large vehicles. The road is single track in many places with high banks and bushes. This means you cannot see what is coming before you have committed and the distance to be traveled on such roads is 3+ miles. So be sure you are comfortable with reversing caravans and motorhomes over a distance in narrow sections. Meeting other large vehicles happened to us several times and I had to back up several times up to 100 meters as the the lorries and tractors we met were not moving. It seems that if there is an issue on the A38 that traffic is diverted or sat navs direct traffic down these unsuitable roads toward the site which makes access to and from the site even harder. You can get to the site from Loddiswell but this road is not any better or worse. The road from Modbury is not suitable at all. If you do get to site, I think the best way to get around if using a motorhome is by electric bicycle (or motorbike) as most of the attractions are reachable with these. Furthermore, parking a motorhome in south Devon is difficult at best. South Devon does not appear to be motorhome friendly. I met several motorhomers who said the same and who would not be coming to Devon again.

I can tell you’re not used to Westcountry roads😂😂

HGVs, buses and tractors use these lanes on a daily basis. It’s a way of life.

How do you know what I am used to or the roads I am used to driving on? Furthermore, the emojis you have chosen to display show a lack of respect for others views. Just because certain vehicles use these roads does not make it good. Its more to do with there being nothing else and little road investment in Devon in decades.

Driving around these lanes in a campervan and Devon is obviously a lot easier than a motorhome.

My review was intended to help others who are not used to driving their vehicles on such roads and as such to go elsewhere or be prepared. Its called being helpful. There are a lot of drivers in leisure vehicles who are not expert at backing up and may not all have rear view cameras to see what is behind.
