Fantastic stay

We have just returned from a weeks family stay at Modbury & this is one of the best sites we've stayed on - CC & privately owned. The wardens are lovely & work hard - the facilities are spotless. The pitches are a good size & the site is nicely laid out with hedgerows bordering it. My son made lots of friends & loved playing football & cricket in the large field. We really liked Modbury & had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Exeter Inn. The site is a good base to explore the area - Salcombe, Bigbury & lots of National Trust properties/walks. We have a camper van so the access didn't bother us - this is Devon - home of high hedgerows & lovely country lanes.

First visit

The South Hams area is very nice, but the access to everything is very tedious with the numerous passing places in all the narrow lanes. The site seems very susceptable to winds which seem to come from America bringing with it lots of mist.Choice of pitch is limited due to the high number of seasonal pitches, most of which seemed to be unoccupied in the middle of July, including weekends. Too many pitches require parking in front of outfit. Been there done that (as they say!)

Excellent Club Site

Just arrived back from Modbury site and have to say it is a very well maintained site. The Wardens are very interactive and chirpy always seem happy even on a rainy day. Although adequate and functions as intended a new toilet block would be good. Thank you again for a very pleasurable stay.

Kent travellers

We really enjoyed our weeks holiday here.. Great walks and would highly recommend Hope Cove for the coastal walk absolutely beautiful.. Camp site was perfect for us quite and peaceful, Staff are lovely and very helpful. The lanes are very narrow but has not put us off as we will deferently be back.

Motorhome at Modbury

This has to be one of the best Club sites for layout and spacious pitches, but a car is a must. The lanes all around are narrow and not for walking or cycling, and there are no nearby busses. Yes, the approach is narrow, but go slowly and you should be OK, but best to avoid rush hours.  The facilities may be a bit dated, but they are clean, and work a lot better than many modern upgrades. The site is beautifully maintained and there are pitches to suit everyone. The dog walk is also excellent.  Within a few miles you have the very best of the South Devon coastline with superb walking, and fascinating villages and places to enjoy, BUT, you definitely need a car to get there and the ability to drive carefully and patiently.  A lovely site for caravans, but motorhomers must be aware of the limitations due to the location. Over the past 18 years we have visited 18 times and also had a seasonal pitch here, but now we have a motorhome.

What a Gem!

Just spent two glorious weeks on this site and simply didn't want to leave. Plenty to do out and about or just laze around by the van. The staff work tirelessly to keep everything in top shape and what a friendly bunch they are. We didn't have children with us, but the play area certainly looked well equipped and very interesting, hence the 5. The Indian restaurant in Modbury (5 mins away) is well worth a try. This is a "must return ASAP" site, or should be at the top of your list to give a try.

We love Modbury

My husband and I have just spent 16 wonderful nights at this site in Modbury and enjoyed every minute (even the 2 thunder storms we incurred). The site facilities are absolutely spotless and the staff never seem to stop working. They are continually maintaining, cleaning and keeping everywhere tidy, at the same time, being so helpful and really friendly. The site is lovely and quiet, and ideally situated to explore south Devon. Bidbury on Sea, Totnes, Salcombe, Dartmouth are all within easy reach with plenty to see and do. If you want a quiet day, you can just chill out at your caravan and then maybe wonder down to the California Cross for a lovely evening meal. We have been visiting this site now for 6 years and can't wait to return. Thanks everyone for a really lovely holiday.

Heaven on Earth

As I write this all I can hear are the birds in the hedgerows.  This site is immaculate and a credit to the wardens hard work.  The large secluded dog field even has a table and bench so they can tire themselves out without you doing so.  Very large children's play field must be popular during the school holidays and a separate activity area for younger ones. Modbury and its local shops for all the basics just up the road and when your ready to venture forth, Plymouth, Dartmoor, Dartmouth, Brixham and the whole of the Hams to explore. This is only our second season caravanning but found the approach of no concern. Would I return.........I seriously don't wan't to leave.

Beautiful devon

We stayed at this site for 10days last August it was last minute booking and what a treat. After a long 6 hour trip with two young children, we had a great welcome.  Once checked in we found a good hard standing pitch.  All pitches are well positioned and there are hard standing and grass.  Girls loved the playground and made some lovely friends.  All the required facilities where available, showers, laundry, wash up area.  The toilet and showers are a little dated but spotlessly clean as is all the site. If you pitch at the top of the site you get great view of Dartmoor.  The road to and from the site is a little tight when towing, but if you are sensible and think/look ahead there are plenty of passing points.  We ourselves didn't encounter any problems but were on occasion behind other caravanners that did.  Beautiful beaches around the area again some narrow lanes to these but worth it. We did drive to the Eden project, about 1hour away but in my opinion not worth it.  Good shopping area and children's fun fair up the road and spent good day here.  Weather was not good but we still had a good time.
