Lovely smaller site in good location

Spent two nights at Minehead in our 6 metre motorhome. Some of the pitches have compound slopes (right to left and back to front) but levelling blocks soon coped with those. The toilet block is clean but the facilities are a little small for a site with nearly 50 pitches. Check in was quick and friendly and you are asked to park up and walk the site to choose your pitch before driving to it. Not a problem as the site is quite small. The directions sheet advising the route to Minehead centre takes you past the shopping area. If you are simply looking to walk to the seafront there is a much quicker route which you can see if you use Google Earth. Plenty of local shops and convenient takeaways. We had Sunday lunch at the Britannia Inn which was about ten minutes walk through Alcombe and this was truly scrummy so comes highly recommended. Good dog walking facilities on site and lovely walks along the coastal path of you want to venture further. Most enjoyable two nights on site.

Good location

Enjoyed a week there. On arrival the warden noted our continental caravan and advised us to the best pitches for such. Pleasantly different from other sites where we end up in dread of the British caravanners arriving and taking up most of the area with car, caravan, awning, table and chairs surrounded by a windbrake and erecting a large kite on a tall pole. Why they don't dig a moat and have done with it I don't know? There is some traffic noise from the A39 but not much. We were on pitch 33, so maybe elsewhere on the site the noise could be a problem. However, I didn't notice it when taking the dog around the dog walk and it covers one side of the club site. Would agree with others that it could be a bit tight on some of the pitches although the more seasoned carvanners seemed to cope with ease. Deer seem to be regular visitors on the site. Five of them appeared near to our pitch one afternoon. Would recommend visiting Lynmouth, Porlock and Dunster. Try walking over the hill to Dunster, very pleasant.

Great location and well-maintained site

The best feature of this site is its location. Minehead is within easy walking distance, and there are many attractions (coastal and Exmoor) all around. For us, however, the major drawback was traffic noise from the A39 which is just alongside. Previous reviews haven't mentioned this - but I don't think that we are particularly fussy on this score. So bear it in mind. It's a lovely site: well-maintained, and clean. But, as previous reviews have mentioned, a little too cramped. The wardens were helpful and friendly. There's an information room with bus timetables etc. There are local independent shops a short walk away and major supermarkets a short drive away.

Enjoyable stay. Great base for Exmoor & Quantocks walks.

I enjoyed my 5-day stay here in April. I’d not been able to book a spot on any of the local CL's, so had to revert to the main CC site, but this actually turned out to be the CHEAPER option, so represents very good value. Site is in an old Quarry - looks nice enough, though the views of Minehead & the coast are mostly obscured by trees. I found the pitches were quite narrow, with only just enough width for my small outfit of car, van and porch awning. These narrow pitches caused many folk to have to peg their awnings well outside the designated pitch area. Also, the layer of gravel/hardcore laid over the bedrock seemed to be a little thin on my pitch, so standard 'rock pegs' were often too long - even managed to bend two of them beyond repair. Shall have to buy some that are only about 15 cm (6 inches) long. Site was clean, tidy, well maintained, helpful relief wardens and reasonably quiet ( . . .the site, not the wardens). There are two large supermarkets within 10 minutes drive and a row of smaller ‘village’ shops within walking distance. If you need spares/equipment for your van try P&B Motor sports, the Avenue, Minehead, before you go further afield, he had quite a good selection. This proved to be an excellent base for walking/cycling in the Exmoor and Quantock Hills; fabulous views & wonderful woodlands, a real treat. The geology of the coastline is also v. interesting and worth exploring. And there’s a lot to occupy non-walking time, such as the local museums & visitor centres. Especially recommend the museum and harbour at Watchet for ‘industrial history’. Will definitely be returning in the Autumn, and booking straight onto the CC site.

April Holiday

We must congratulate the relief wardens for their help during our holiday. The hot water boiler in our Motorhome failed and the Warden was straight up to the van and discovered there was a short which he said possibly came from the element in the boiler. He immediately rang a mobile repair technician. The Technician came to site at 3.30pm and located the problem and changed the element. Water was again hot by 4.30pm. This saved us from leaving the site to return home. This just goes to show how good the Wardens on the CC club sites are.

Love minehead site/location

This is our sixth visit to minehead site & it never fails to please in every way.  Arrived for seven nights - never used the car once, the site is so central for walking, supermarkets, wonderful seaside & countryside.   The site is very clean & friendly.  We are still finding new places to explore - the area is a true delight.  Our dog loves it too

Lovely Stay

Stayed for just the one night but the site was perfect. Friendly welcome and nice clean site. Peaceful location. Would be suitable for longer stay just so happened that we were only doing one night away in the camper. Definitely would stay again. Sites like this are a credit to the Caravan Club.

One of our favourite sites

Have been here many times but still love it.  Has best of both worlds, with sea and shops whilst close to beautiful Exmoor.  Enjoy watching the red deer who look down on the site and appear to like watching humans!
