Easy located from any direction , we found it to be private and quiet. The only downfall and this was no fault of the wardens was the lazy dog walkers who failed to clear up after their pets.We stayed in july had lovely weather and found the site to be a lovely sheltered sun trap. We found Minehead to be with in easy walking distance with lots of pleasant pubs and eateries we would stay again.
Great Site Great Location
We stayed here for a few days in August , on excellent level pitch 4 , sunny level spot, gravel pitch was no problem .got tv reception , no problem. We were greeted by friendly wardens, who told us the quick way to get to towna 10 - 15 mins walk through a nice residential pathway, then your on main road to town. The site we could not fault it , small and quiet, Shops , chippy, pub short stroll right out of site . Town has many nice shops and Great pubs , seafront , not expensive, friendly locals. Nice area. We will return to this lovely site again
Friendly but Tired site
Lovely wardens, very peaceful site but, very old and dated. Needs modernising.
Lovely Site
What a lovely site this is !
The Current Wardens are superb they are friendly very helpful and are really nice couple such a shame its their last year on site.
Its the 4th year running that we have been to Minehead and we will be back next year.
The baker calls round in his van just about breakfast time with the papers and croissant .
The site is immaculate and a credit to the wardens
Our two black Labrador pups Jet and Blue say Hi too
Choose your pitch carefully !!
We stayed here 17th July for a week. Our pitch was great, others were not so lucky.
Only a very few pitches will let you access Sky TV as the trees surrounding the site and the very steep banks prevent signals. The warden was very helpful though, telling us the best ones.
DO NOT Take the upper level pitches nos.10 to 16. They are dreadful. No water points up there and a very steep climb to this area. The elderly or infirm would really struggle. It is like a very unkempt car park. No pitch markers, gravel, very uneven and apparently it wa an old quarry so rock pegs needed. Once in you cannot get them out !!!
Anyone up there kept their eye on people leaving on the lower level and they swapped. The photo in the site book is of the main area which is fairly level and pleasant. There is though, a steep climb back up from the single toilet block on site even to these pitches.
The man with the papers arrives at 9am every morning which is handy, he also sells cobs and other bits.
The walk into town takes about 20minutes and is quite an easy stroll taking you to the main shopping area.
Just along from the site is a Co-op small, but selling most things. Handy for the odd milk, bread etc.
If you have a car there is a small Tesco and a large Morrisons a short drive away on the edge of the town. A Lidl is being built alongside as well.
Minehead is a pleasant town and a nice seafront.
The railway is also worth a trip ....don't forget your 'buy one get one half price' caravan club voucher !!
We enjoyed being there and would go again as long as we got the right pitch.
We did notice a pitch being reserved for someone who arrived much later that day so I would expect to have the same.
Brilliant location first time here
We stayed at Minehead site for 4 nights and we loved it, the wardens were splendid and very knowledgeable. the site is tiered so not boring. We were on pitch number 18 in the top section, on our first morning very early we pulled up the blinds to see a family of Roe deer with a fawn grazing on the old quarry bank just above the caravans and motor homes opposite. we managed to get some great photographs of them. The steam train is a must even without children as an excuse. Fantastic site and spotless with 5 star hanging baskets and plant pots. will return soon.
Disappointed
Unable to erect our new awning as the ground is rock, we were given poor and rushed instructions on arrival resulting in a altercation with another cc member as we missed the motorhome service point due to 3 others parked in it. With instructions not to take van on site without finding a pitch on foot and not being confident to go any further as warden warned us about getting stuck left me in a situation causing one cc member to be angry and aggressive to us. the incident was reported by us to the warden.
We endured our stay using our old water in tank not being able to top up.
Site was pleasant but not as well kept as other cc sites. We won't be returning.

Quarry
Pitches 10 to 18 are in a quarry section. Whilst sheltered there is no grass or scenic outlook. Told that these were the only available, although we booked months in advance. CC policy seems to be first come first served, but certain pitches were 'poled' off but suddenly became free and were used later. Seemed to be a 'who you know' process in operation. Toilets are closed 10:30 to 11:30, right in the middle of the morning. Since only one cleaner seemed to be working why were the gents and the ladies closed off at the same time?
Despite the proximity to Minehead would not use this site again. I'd rather take the risk and use the site just along the road, to the west. This policy of not being able to book pitches in advance, (unless you are in the know), raises the question as to why I remain a CC member. Seriously considering not renewing my membership - as is the case for those we visited the site with.
