Motorhome Perfection

Just returned from a few days at this site before the half term holiday. Although it is a big site it is laid out in such a way that it doesn't feel crowded and there is a good selection of pitches, open, shady, grass etc.. The hardstanding pitches are very generous and ours was completely level. Although we did not have children with us we were particularly impressed by the excellent children's play area and the large grassy field In which they can kick a ball without fear of a telling off. The Wardens were friendly on the whole and very helpful, there was a very relaxed atmosphere which is not always the case on a club site. The location is very good for exploring the South Cornwall coast and if using the King Harry Ferry (cars and vans only) which is only a short drive away you can shorten the journey to Truro and Falmouth. Don't forget to collect your ferry voucher from Reception. For motorhomers without transport there is a bus stop conveniently located at the top of the lane, and for all those nervous of narrow Cornish lanes the entrance and exit from the site is controlled by traffic lights, more of these needed on other sites! We visited Trellisick House and Gardens which is located just the other side of the King Harry Ferry. A National Trust property it has some lovely walks and stunning views, there is the usual NT restaurant, shop, gallery and a large plant centre. You can easily pass the whole day exploring here. We also visited the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, this is a little disappointing, we thought, not terribly good value for money, having said that if you have children there is plenty to keep them occupied and learning something at the same time. Falmouth is always very buzzy with lots of choice for eateries and individual shops. All in all a very good trip, thank you Merrose Farm.
