Beware the Purple Pitch Marker

We stayed for 3 nights during 2nd week of September. When we arrived all the hardstandings were taken so we had to stay on a grass pitch which I wouldn't have a problem with normally but the only grass pitch that was left was a sloping pitch that was surrounded by other pitches making it difficult to access, especially with a large motorhome. In my opinion it shouldn't have been a pitch. During the first evening we discovered that a hardstanding that was virtually next to us was going to be available the next day so we moved onto it the following day which was the Saturday morning. We noticed all round us that purple marks were either put on the white peg or a purple peg was placed next to the white one. As these pitches were vacated a cone or other items were placed on the pitches. We found out that these pitches were being reserved for people that had booked a 6 week stay at a very much lower rate than the standard cost which is great for the people that are able to stay for 6 weeks. However if you want to stay for a week or a couple of nights your choice of pitch is limited as a lot of the pitches had been made unavailable by the wardens or in a way reserved for the six week special deals. I was always under the impression that you weren't able to reserve pitches in the CC but its obviously ok for the wardens to do it (which we also experienced in Looe last year). We liked the site location, the facilities and we didn't have any issues with any of the wardens but this policy needs some looking into. In my opinion if you're staying for 6 weeks and paying less than half per night you should expect to have to move to a better pitch when one becomes available as we had to.
