An absolute gem of a site!
First visit to the Lake District and so glad we chose this site. Quiet mid-week, even during August holiday season, and even when full at weekends it is still very pleasant, thoughtfully laid out with lots of smaller areas offering a variety of shadey or sunny pitches. Facilities were beautifully maintained by very friendly and helpful wardens. Yes, the access road is narrow and steep in places but with the club arrival time after 1pm to avoid congestion, we did not have any issues getting our caravan in or out of the site - it certainly wouldn't deter us!
Lovely view towards Arnside from one of the two dog walks, both of which dogs can be off lead in. Hotel 5 minutes walk from site is pricey for food but lovely for an evening pint! Great location for both Windermere and Coniston, Grange-over-Sands is lovely with a good variety of convenience shops/cafes/takeways/bakery and Arnside is a must to visit and watch the Boar Tide come in - quite breathtaking! The local village of Cartmel is also a must to visit with a local brewery, cheese shop, lovely cafe, few gift shops and home of the Sticky Toffee Pudding - absolutely delicious. Most places do charge for parking and even public toilets, so be warned! - although they are cash or card.
We will definately return to the area and would most definately return to this site - we cannot fault it, and the fantastic wardens are a credit to the network. Thank you!
