Tranquility with Superb Facilities, Great Cycling.
We stayed mid August and the site was quite busy. It remained peaceful despite being nearly full. Facilities are very new, spacious, and as usual with the Caravan Club, spotless. There were never any queues for toilets and showers, just an occasional wait for a washing up sink but nothing significant. It is not a particularly good site if you want to walk straight from the site. The walk to Grange-over-Sands is about 3 miles and all on lanes until you get to Grange Promenade. We go for the cycling because from here you can do lovely rides to the north heading into Lakeland. Get a decent OS map to find rides on quiet lanes. Try the lanes following the NCN to Witherslack and then north to Bowland Bridge (pub and also village shop serving coffee and cakes). For a long 35 mile hilly ride you can continue to Winster and Bowness across the ferry on Windermere, back down to Lakeside, Newby Bridge, and lanes to Cartmel and back to Grange. Or for a shorter ride of about 20 miles from Bowland Bridge return down the other side of the valley to Lindale and use the B road back to the site. But you will need a map and be prepared to navigate. The rewards are delightful quiet lanes with wildlife and flowers to die for. Yes, we will go back!
