One night to try out our campervan

Meathorp is a lovely well placed site for exporting the Morecambe bay coast line. It was our first night trying out the campervan experience. Kath at the reception checked us in and was very friendly and helpful and as the site wasn’t full advised us to check a couple of sites before choosing what we like best. We chose the grass site with distant views to Morecambe bay coast and next to the dog area, and the toilets. It was a perfect introduction. The sun shone till it went down at 9pm and we had our microwaved meal in our awning. After that we decided to take the dog for a walk in the woods just outside the site and ended up at the Woodland hotel for a drink in the garden which was perfect! We didn’t walk to Grange over sands but it can be easily and safely done on the back lane past the golf club. There are plenty of places to eat including, Pub food, the commodore, keg and kitchen, and fish and chip shop, Indian and Chinese restaurants. Theres the coop, spa and Tesco small supermarkets. For a treat I would recommend the Wraysholme ice cream farm at Allithwite ( check Facebook page). There’s also an ice cream parlour and a good bakery called born & bread ( see Facebook) also selling luxury burgers at Greenodd including an off-licence with an extensive choice of local beer and alternatives. The toilet system with rubber bands left outside the toilet on a hook is a good way to show if it’s full. The showers weren’t in use. And I didn’t have to queue either. The washing up area worked well. Also other campers were very friendly sociable and helpful! An excellent introduction to campervan life!
