Lovely site, peaceful with stunning views

Had a super week at meathop. The site is spacious, peaceful yet still welcoming to families ( of which we were). Staff friendly and helpful with local activities and advice on days out and places to eat. Reception sells essentials and there's a spar and coop in grange which is 10 mins by car. Toilets are immaculate with perfectly laid out large shower cubicles. Pitches are mainly hard standing and top area of the park I would say is best if you go hard standing. We opted for a grass pitch on the mid area which gave us exceptional views over the estuary. Great location for exploring the southern Lake District. We did bike rides, climbed scafelll pike from wast water, drove hard knot pass, a visit to the safari zoo near dalton is definitely recommended-pay the extra £4 to hand feed giraffes and lemurs. A brilliant week, lucky with the weather too. 2 pubs to recommend; hare and hound leven and the pheasant at flookborough. Only reason it's not completely a 5/5 is that due to the age of our children we could have done with a field or area to kick a football / play. There is a nice park for younger children though.
