Impressive

Meathop Fell was the very first CC site we stayed on back in the Autumn of 1999. Although we have stayed many times since, we hadn't actually been for about five years. What a fantastic site it is! The improvements made since our last visit are very impressive. The toilet block has seen a substantial makeover, with all year round caravanners well catered for with an enclosed, heated wash up/veg prep area. More hardstandings are now in place, but do not spoil the green areas of the site, although we actually stayed on a very nice grass pitch (58) ourselves. What can I say about the children's play area! When we first visited the site 16 years age, the play area consisted of a green wendy house. Today, there are pitches where the original play area was located, and a comprehensive, well designed play area is located to the bottom western edge of the site that is as good as anything I've seen on the network, certainly enough to keep most 5-13 year olds amused. Situated as it is within the boundary of the Lake District National Park, and within easy reach of all that this spectacular area has to offer, Meathop fell is a stand out site on the network. Final mention must go to the tremendous work of the wardens and assistants here for their wonderful welcome, and all their hard work in maintaining the site to the highest possible condition, bearing in mind the site was full over the August bank holiday period when we visited. Special mention too for the "site shop", which would put many a corner shop to shame with the comprehensive choice of food and essentials all available, all of which made Meathop Fell a site that we will be looking forward to returning to as soon as possible.
