Killin time
We were first time visitors to this site, and used it as a stop over for a few nights enroute to Oban and the west of Scotland, and its set in a a lovely place next to the river and a short walk to the village of Killin about a 8/10 minute walk.
Its just over 90 minutes north of Glasgow The site is lovely with great views of ben lawyers from the site, we found it quiet and peaceful and the wardens were very welcoming. Toilet block is located in the middle of the site and was clean and tidy, although getting a little dated now but plenty of hot water in the showers.
Best piches are next to the river and we didnt hear much traffic noise from there We took several walks from the site, if you turn left out of the site you come to a little bridge, turn left and follow the road you come to the cemetary and then the old castle, worth a trip. Continue for a few hundred metres and you come to the old disused railway track, this takes you up into killin to the falls and several cafes and and is lovely under the shade of the trees.
We also took the trip to loch tay which was a circular walk from the railway track, quite nice. If you turn right from the site you come to a country hotel and the golf course on the right, which serves really good food and drinks. Killin itself was a lovely little village with a selection of shops a great coop and pubs/ cafes.
Go enjoy yourself in this lovely spot, we will return.
