Beautiful position for visiting Dartmoor and a little further afield the North or South Devon coast. On arrival at the site although a little early we were met by the friendly staff who walked us around the site to find a suitable pitch. Now Lydford has the most beautiful views of the moors so the selection of the pitch to suit your vantage point for the stunning views is important. With tents on the top field and a mix of motorhomes and vans elsewhere on the site and non members welcome we felt the site was friendlier that most CC sites.  Yes we will be back and hopefully the shower block and wash facilities will have been updated, they are looking a bit jaded but nevertheless very clean. The village of Lydford is very beautiful and the NT Lydford Gorge walk (about 3 mile round trip - 2 hours) is well worth the effort with waterfalls, trout pools and a thunderous pot hole cauldron at the end absolute magic. If you fancy a night off from cooking at the Castle Inn pub is well worth a visit. Excellent choice of bar meals or restaurant. Top site let down (a little) by the facilities.
