Lovely stay in October.

This site is well located and easy to find. The wardens were amongst the best we have encountered. The site facilities are well up to club standards, and the views from the field are remarkable.Lydford gorge is probably the finest natural site we have ever seen in England A true gem that should not be missed. There are several excellent N.T. properties within the area and Finch Foundry must be seen.Tavistock,Okehampton and to our surprise Plymouth were all very pleasant to visit with some lovely local shops and pubs.A wonderful five night stay at a highly reccommended site.

WOW Indeed

The club could learn a lot from how this reasonably priced AS is run. One hundred percent agree with Wizard appraisal of the site, Its the little things that count like the towel rails in the shower cubicles in addition to ample hooks to hang your clothing on and the nested shelving for soap and shampoo. There is fantastic walking from the site, nearby Lydford Gorge is a must for the fitter walker. Bus route 46, Plymouth, Tavistock, Oakhampton passes through the village every two hours. There is also easy access to the Granite Way cycleway which runs the 8 miles from the village to Oakhampton. There is a good pub, the Castle in the village but no shops. The nearest shop is a Farm shop on the A386 about one up hill mile away. Loved the site and it is one we will definitely use again for a longer stay.

Hard working wardens

Just had a lovely week here. The site wardens are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. A lovely site right next to The Granite Way cycle route into Okehampton. Be aware that it's not 6 miles as stated on the CC leaflet but about 8 1/2 .  Lovely walks from the site up the Torr and also Lydford Gorge too.

A Favourite Spot

This was our third visit to this fantastic site. As always a warm welcome and lovely clean facilities. The surrounding area is great for walking and cycling as well as lots of other outdoor activities that would keep any member of a family, whatever their age, fully occupied. The Castle Inn is recommended for excellent fish and chips with a pint after a hard day relaxing!

Great for Cycling and Moor Views

This is the second time we have stayed at this site and had a great time on both occasions. The staff team clearly take a great sense of personal pride in the way that the site is maintained and run. Everything is spotlessly clean, the showers are hot and the pitches are on the whole, level. On arrival and after being greeted by name, we were offered a choice of pitches and selected Tavy Field which has stunning views over the moors particularly in the early morning and at sunset. This visit we cycled up the disused railway line to Okehampton and found a cafe at the renovated station. It was the perfect cake and tea stop before the cycle back. It only takes about an hour each way and so leaves plenty of time to do something else in the day. This site and its friendly and helpful staff team are highly recommended.

Brilliant Site

This was the first time that we had stayed at Lydford and we will be back. It is in a wonderful location and as we always try to be green when away with our Motorhome we were able to use the buses on each day to Okehampton and Tavistock but some people went to Exeter and Plymouth. The Wardens were brilliant and could not do enough for us and everyone else on the site. The Cream Teas are great also!

A Pleasing Site

From the start, we received amazing reversing assistance (how park it on a dime !) to our T.V. wiring muddle ( they ransacked their shed for bits! ) They could not do enough it seemed, even rushing out to open the barrier each time we returned exhausted from our sorties on the moor. Please do not let on about this site, we want to get back in next time!

Friendliest Site Ever

On arrival we had a great welcome by the friendliest staff we have ever encountered. Everything here is well organised. We were called by our name as we pulled up and the reception took time to explain the facilities, the area, local points of interest, the pubs and much more. The site is very clean and beautifully maintained and were were taken on a tour by Hazel to choose our pitch. Even the internet was FREE, reception was a bit hit and miss in places but no worse than Caravan Club sites.

Peace and quiet

This is a lovely quiet but busy site with friendly wardens who are helpful and always have time for a chat.  Facilities always clean though a bit dated. Reception stocks a small amount of basics and you can order a daily newspaper if you wish. Situated on the edge of beautiful Dartmoor with easy access to explore.  National Trust Lydford Gorge is within walking distance and impressive especially after rain.  A great base to explore the area.
