Two nights returning from Edinburgh

As it's a long drive from Edinburgh to West Yorkshire we decided to stop off on the return journey having previously tried Barnard Castle which is a bit further north. The site is 20 minutes off the A1 and easy to find. A rather narrow entrance leads to an interesting site on various levels. Wardens were very friendly and very helpful in advising on pitches. As it's a 'club managed' site we were not sure what to expect. Pitches vary in size and are often uneven with a number in a lot of shade. The only toilet block was of the usual clean standard but is a touch dated and a bit of a walk from the far end of the site. The lighting at night on the site is not what we've seen elsewhere although this is mentioned in the club handbook and was not a problem. There are lots of walks in the area including two into Leyburn which is a typical North Yorkshire market town. It's fairly busy traffic wise with a good selection of pubs and shops. Certainly a peaceful site with lots to do in the locality including cycling if you enjoy hills!
