Lower Wensleydale review

We stayed at the site for 6 nights in August. We booked in advance, but found only a few pitches with awnings available. The site is set in a heavily wooded old quarry area close to Leyburn. Many of the pitches are quite shaded, some most of the day. Access to site when towing, a little disconcerting due to steep hill and bend. Site facilities are ok, clean, but a bit cramped and dated. Site staff very helpful. Although within walking distance of Leyburn, the walk is along a busy A road, so not so pleasant. There is a nice pub within close walking distance, but check opening times. The site is in a good position for visiting the dales and many places of interest by car, although we found walks from the site not so inspiring. Site good for proximity to Wensleydale Railway for railway enthusiasts.
