old Quarry

Whilst we thought this site to be ideal for tourers it was a long walk into town.more than the stated 1 mile. Also the facilities are a little tired and could do with a update. The grounds were very soggy and wheel damage was obvious, wardens have their work cut out to make them flat.We would go again but hope for dry weather

Wildlife fighting under the Motorhome!

What and excellent site, superb central shower & toilet facilities, several others for water etc. The wardens excellent and knowledgeable. Its only a mile into Leyburn, as lovely town, and (if you follow directions properly,or better still, use a map!) only a pleasant hour's walk to Middleham. The local wildlife were very tame, as we drew up a peacock and a pair of ducks came to meet us. Same pair of ducks ended up in a noisy kerfuffle under the 'van when another drake fancied his chances!! We will be going back here relatively regularly.

Quirky

We enjoyed a brief stay which was, in part, to meet up with members of our family.  The site is very quiet and peaceful and there is lots of wild life - rabbits, a wide variety of birds including a peacock.  The weather was mixed as our stay was in early April but, on the whole, we weren't affected by the rain. The warden described the site as quirky which is an apt description.  He and his wife were most welcoming and helpful.  It is a very pleasant setting and it is well placed for discovering the area. There is much to see and do and Lower Wensleydale is ideal for accessing all the opportunities for walking, cycling, visiting ancient monuments and generally enjoying the wonderful scenery.

happy holiday

We have only just unloaded the caravan after a fantastic stay. The wardens deserve a special mention. Both pairs went out of their way to be as helpful as possible. The site is quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed it so much we have booked to return in the summer

Ten Day Break

Lovely Site well kept to high Standards. Approach Road Narrow so arrive > 12. Site Warden Michael WARDLEY does an Excellent Job and All Staff are very Friendly & Helpful. Very Poor TV Signal & NO Wi-Fi should be Up Graded. Overall an Excellent 10 day Holiday for me & my wife. We recommend that you Holiday there as lots to see & do in surrounding area.

Short Break

A lovely site, daffodils in bloom, plenty of wildlife from resident peacock, a couple of pheasants, ducks and ducklings and lots of rabbits.  The only request is that the facilities need to be updated with at least two privacy cubicles in the men's toilet block and bigger shower cubicles in both men and women's facilities.

Great site

We stayed here during the Easter holidays. We had a great time. The site is peaceful and relaxing. The kids loved the rabbits, ducks, moorhens, pheasants and peacock! The wardens are very friendly and very efficient. The facilities were lovely and clean although during the Easter weekend they were very busy and the site really could do with more facilities. The pitch we had was lovely and flat-no need for levelling blocks. The nearby town - Leyburn-was lovely with everything you could need. We had great days out at Castle Bolton, Aysgarth Falls and Lightwater Valley. We also had some delicious meals at the Queens Head in Finghall- highly recommend this ! We thoroughly enjoyed our week here. Great work wardens-keep it up :-)

A wonderfully relaxing site.

We visited this site for the first time this Easter and, despite the worst British weather (hail, strong winds and prolonged lashing downpours), we had a wonderfully relaxing stay. The site is quite compact and the pitch sizes and orientations vary quite a bit; levelling blocks are a must too. The wardens are really helpful  and keep the facilities spotless. It is a great place for watching wildlife and the railway which runs alongside the site is not a problem at all. We will certainly return here again!

Easter in the sun, rain and hailstones.

We have just returned from 4 days here and it is a lovely site. The pitches are very higgly piggly so I would recommend coming as early as possible to get the bigger and more accessible ones. The site is set out to make the most of it's unusual layout with pitches using every available bit of space so make sure you pack your levellers with you. The warden's were very helpful and friendly, always saying hello and asking if everything was ok. The shower area was always clean and tidy. It is a very pretty site and whilst there we saw plenty of wildlife and the grounds were scattered with daffodils.  Leyburn is a short walk away with plenty of pubs that allow our 4 legged friends in and K'tea's cafe is a must visit as their cakes are sublime. British weather is very unpredictable and we had glorious sunshine, heavy rain and even a covering of hailstones. We really enjoyed our time here and plan to visit again soon to explore the area further.
