Weekend not long enough.

Arrived later than we usually would due to the road being closed between the Ribblehead viaduct and Hawes. We hadn't known about this and it was slightly annoying as we had no signal to contact anyone re - alternative routes and diversion signs were for roads suitable for light vehicles only. We did get through luckily as the workman were opening the route just as we were thinking about turning around and going home. Note to self - check local information as when mentioned at the site to the wardens, they had no idea about it. Anyway, usual welcome on arrival and very nice wardens pointed us towards a very good pitch that had earlier been vacated and they were spot on. It was a raised pitch overlooking units below in a very secluded area. (pitch 54). All usual club standard facilities, clean, tidy and as well maintained as possible in what I would call a wildlife haven style site. Not to prim and proper but that in my opinion keeps it fitting into the surrounding area. Some of the pitches were in need of refurbishment but it would spoil this site to have stark gravel perfect sized pitches especially within the back drop of such natural beauty. We did think that on the lower part of the site, it looked a little crammed. Great dog walking area. A walk around the site is long enough for a 'wee' walk but ample walks off site in every direction. We will definitely visit again for longer as there are plenty of places to visit. A weekend is enough for r&r however.

Excellent stay

Stayed here recently Wednesday - Saturday and had a thoroughly wonderful stay. The wardens were extremely helpful and friendly on arrival. We have stayed here a number of times over the last two years and the site just gets better and better whilst not being snobby or a rip off like many other sites. With fantastic walks on the doorstep, a great traditional pub only a short walk away and the nearby town a twenty minute walk away its the perfect place for a quiet break. Its everything we could ask for and not daft money per night. Other sites should take note!

Peaceful site

This site has got to be the most peaceful site we have stayed on. The reception from the wardens on arrival was very warm and friendly. The site is on different levels but all are very quiet. Lots of ducks, rabbits and of cause the peacock. Its about 15-20 minutes walk to Leyburn with its antique shops, pubs, coffee shops etc. Leyburn station is a 10 minute walk away where you can travel on the preserved railway. Its certainly a site if you like peace and quiet.

Beautiful Location

We had a very enjoyable week here and loved the beautiful surrounding area. Lots of small towns and villages to explore in the fantastic dales. We liked the nearby small town of Leyburn with plenty of small shops, bakers, butchers and pubs. The site was up to the usual club standards but did find some of the pitches were almost unusable due to overgrowing shrubs and trees, difficult access with caravan and quite out of level, this may be due to the large number of trees that cover the site. Wardens were helpful and friendly.

Tranquility!

What a lovely site, very peaceful and quiet. Ducks wandering about, and a peacock! As long as the Peacock 'singing' from 5am doesn't bother you, nothing much else will! We had not been to this area before, and we stayed for a week and there was plenty to do, with or without moving the car! We walked into Leyburn and used the site maps and information to get about. We ventured around the area and, although there were cattle/sheep in some of the fields, it was good! Wardens were great! Very helpful, friendly and gave us loads of information on the local area.

A gem of a site

We have just returned from 5 nights at this site and we have to say it is in a wonderful area of 'God's Own County'. The site is extremely peaceful and there are so many places to visit within easy reach. Unfortunately the weather was mostly atrocious whilst we were there but this is one of the delights of caravanning! On a wet day, a must is Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle. A lovely scenic ride and the museum is crammed with some amazing exhibits. I must agree with an earlier reviewer that the Assistant Wardens Steve and Di do deserve their own site! They are extremely helpful, friendly and work hard. Hope to see them with their own site soon.

A peaceful site in a beautiful location

We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at this site. The facilities were all you would expect from a Caravan Club site. The site itself is less formal and more natural than others, which we liked. The wardens are friendly and helpful. Leyburn is an attractive working town with very good pubs and the people are friendly and welcoming. We did a 7 mile circular walk to Middleham, which proved quite long for us, but was well worth it. The castle there is quite spectacular and we watched race horses from the local stud walk through the village. The Richard III pub was excellent. Thoroughly recommended.

Great Site

Really lovely, clean site and very peaceful. Assistant Wardens Steve and Di really helpful and friendly, always a smile on their faces, I am surprised they do not have their own site their attitude is exceptional. The train journey to Redmire and the Castle is a must.

Amazing site

Loved this site, wonderful location, nature and wild life abounded. This is a quiet, well run and clean site - a credit to the wardens who were so helpful when, due to a puncture on the motor way we arrived outside office hours - sorry! Located in a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales it will be hard to beat.
