So cold...

It's September, there's a cold snap, oh how cold the facilities are! The warmth of the wardens can't do anything to ameliorate the temperature in the toilet blocks. As ever on club sites the hottest the showers will go is some kind of H&S setting. It's character building. Walks off the site are a bit limited. The woods close by with the hill fort (invisible) are beautiful. That's as far as I got but there are more distant options, or the peculiar national cycle route where you must not get off and walk. I didn't go for the wildlife park (it's not cheap - something like £45 - so a stroll from the site is out of the question) but for the very excellent Hauser & Wirth contemporary art gallery in Bruton, some 15 mles off, which is also an interesting village to walk around. My only other complaint is that I didn't hear any lions! Seals aplenty but that doesn't have quite the same cachet. And anyone thinking of doing a late checkout with a caravan as folk are arriving should note that the road to the site is downhill and very narrow in places, with blind bends. So don't! Almost forgot - very poor wifi and poor tv.
