The long and winding road

Having been Caravaning for 47 years and regular users of club sites we had never visited the Longleat site (for no particular reason). We used sat nav to get to the Longleat tavern as suggested and followed the caravan signs down the side of the tavern. I don’t mind narrow roads but I was beginning to think I had made a wrong turn as the road seemed to go on for ever. However, at the end of this long and winding road is a beautiful site, well kept, with spacious pitches and sufficient grassed areas to sit near your outfit and still being socially distant to your neighbours. When we arrived there was a queue of about 7 vans in front of us which is to be expected for the first hour of opening. However the pleasant wardens had a good system to marshal arrivals with checking in at the office by one person at a time in the same sequence as the vans in the queue. We found the site peaceful and quiet even in the evening when many were sat out until late. We used our own facilities but the COVID measures put in place appeared to work well. We have now extended our stay here, will return again and have already mailed friends to recommend Longleat.
