my stay at longleat

this was the second time we came to longleat club site there's so much room so on a hot week like we had your could park your van under tree`s in the shade all if you were a sun worshiper you can park away from the trees the site is lovely and clean and the toilets and showers were spotless the wardens were very cheerful and very helpful the fish &chip van comes twice a week the chips were the hottest we had and the fish was nice as well the site is ideally located for Frome and Warminster

longleat stay

We spent 10 nights at the site which is very well maintained by the wardens.Quite a lot of vehicular noise from the Safari staff as early as 7 am if you are near the approach road. Speeding vehicles appear to be a persistent problem at the site which we did witness.Luckily the site was quite empty but when fully booked will be a problem. All in all a good stay

Will never visit this again !

The site itself I have no problem with and justifies any award it has received. My gripe is with the change of entry to the site (by the by CC editor, advance notice on the following would have helped in the site description !). As we have done on a few previous visits we roll up to the 'entry booths' to let them know we are staying on the site and are politely told that "due to the change of management" the is a new entry road to the site, this also is the same as the exit. Here within is my problem, this road is barely wide enough for one vehicle. There are no 'by pass laybys' and the tour bus uses that same road on its route. I understand the CC has quite an investment in this prime site but surely more could have been done to A/ advise the change on the site description and B/ to push more for a solution to the very bad traffic management.

3rd time with grandsons

After leaving a commercial site where there was not a hint of a smile on arrival the Caravan club wardens are always welcoming. The hidden page offers for entry and discounts to Longleat make up for the new entry restrictions which used to be open at any time. Facilities excellent. Ideal for children. Entry and exit along the very narrow lane can be a bit a bit of concern but out of the control of the Club. Will always go back.

Picked the wrong weekend :-)

OK, what did we expect? A bank holiday weekend, it was always going to rain wasn't it? A welcome break in the weather allowed us to put up the awning without too much trouble, luckily we got there earlier than we expected (around19:15). But others were not so lucky, it poured for the Friday night, lovely on Saturday, but then poured at odd intervals until Monday morning. We decided not to go and visit the local attractions, choosing instead to stay and relax as much as possible. Being the last full week of school holidays, we were surrounded by families with lots of children around. At times, we thought we may have pitched in the playground :-) The site itself is lovely, plenty of space in each pitch and I believe they are all the same size at 9 x 9m each. Facilities are not huge, but they are well appointed. The unfortunate weather meant that there was always going to be some mud trodden in through the doorways, while having so many children on site also meant that the toilets were not always left as you'd expect them to be. Recycling and waste points were spotless and there was no taint in the water. The 5mph limit was not adhered to by many drivers, even though there was a campaign on at the time with signs everywhere: Poor form by members I'm afraid. Staff very helpful and friendly and I would definitely return. But although completely outside of the Club's control....  I would hope for some more sun next time.

Wet very wet

I have just returned from Caravan Club Longleat and despite the weather it was a great stay. Facilities were always spotless, waste bins never full and this was quite a feat as I stayed BH aug weekend when the site was completely full. Entry is down a long lane that sometimes is single file. Please do not think you will be ok if you meet a caravan coming the other way, if you are going to arrive before 1pm then stop in a lay by and wait. There is wifi and the club shop has a map of the hotspots and the no stops if this is important to you. I am on 02 and signal very iffy too. It's easily walkable into Longleat Safari, you can forget about a car. I bought a 5 day ticket for £41 which meant I could come and go rather than make full days of it, quite handy as I could come back to dry off. You just need to use the link for Longleat tickets from the caravan club site and the day before you want to go, simple. Royal Oak pub on the main road does lovely home made food and we booked a roast beef dinner on the Sunday where they bring your joint of meat to the table for you to carve, excellent. I think the wardens did a fab job in trying conditions and all helpful and friendly

Lovely family site

Been to this site for a few years now, lovely clean toilets and showers, well kept grounds and friendly wardens. Beautiful flowers on display too. Won't be going again though as longleat are not giving caravan club discount on anual passes into the park anymore. It only cost us £140 for our family last year and would cost us £316 if we wanted to do again. The site is in good location with asda and lovely town of Frome near by. You do get caravan club discount for day passes but these need to be bought before entry online. I think the lack of discount has and will effect this site, such a shame as it was our favourite family summer holiday location.

Fantastic Week

We stayed here in May for a week and apart from hearing the animals at night and the great location to the safari park, the site itself is fantastic from the very friendly and helpful wardens to the facilities available for the kids, would recommend to any family for a half term break.
