Picked the wrong weekend :-)

OK, what did we expect? A bank holiday weekend, it was always going to rain wasn't it? A welcome break in the weather allowed us to put up the awning without too much trouble, luckily we got there earlier than we expected (around19:15). But others were not so lucky, it poured for the Friday night, lovely on Saturday, but then poured at odd intervals until Monday morning. We decided not to go and visit the local attractions, choosing instead to stay and relax as much as possible. Being the last full week of school holidays, we were surrounded by families with lots of children around. At times, we thought we may have pitched in the playground :-) The site itself is lovely, plenty of space in each pitch and I believe they are all the same size at 9 x 9m each. Facilities are not huge, but they are well appointed. The unfortunate weather meant that there was always going to be some mud trodden in through the doorways, while having so many children on site also meant that the toilets were not always left as you'd expect them to be. Recycling and waste points were spotless and there was no taint in the water. The 5mph limit was not adhered to by many drivers, even though there was a campaign on at the time with signs everywhere: Poor form by members I'm afraid. Staff very helpful and friendly and I would definitely return. But although completely outside of the Club's control....  I would hope for some more sun next time.

Wet very wet

I have just returned from Caravan Club Longleat and despite the weather it was a great stay. Facilities were always spotless, waste bins never full and this was quite a feat as I stayed BH aug weekend when the site was completely full. Entry is down a long lane that sometimes is single file. Please do not think you will be ok if you meet a caravan coming the other way, if you are going to arrive before 1pm then stop in a lay by and wait. There is wifi and the club shop has a map of the hotspots and the no stops if this is important to you. I am on 02 and signal very iffy too. It's easily walkable into Longleat Safari, you can forget about a car. I bought a 5 day ticket for £41 which meant I could come and go rather than make full days of it, quite handy as I could come back to dry off. You just need to use the link for Longleat tickets from the caravan club site and the day before you want to go, simple. Royal Oak pub on the main road does lovely home made food and we booked a roast beef dinner on the Sunday where they bring your joint of meat to the table for you to carve, excellent. I think the wardens did a fab job in trying conditions and all helpful and friendly

Lovely family site

Been to this site for a few years now, lovely clean toilets and showers, well kept grounds and friendly wardens. Beautiful flowers on display too. Won't be going again though as longleat are not giving caravan club discount on anual passes into the park anymore. It only cost us £140 for our family last year and would cost us £316 if we wanted to do again. The site is in good location with asda and lovely town of Frome near by. You do get caravan club discount for day passes but these need to be bought before entry online. I think the lack of discount has and will effect this site, such a shame as it was our favourite family summer holiday location.

Fantastic Week

We stayed here in May for a week and apart from hearing the animals at night and the great location to the safari park, the site itself is fantastic from the very friendly and helpful wardens to the facilities available for the kids, would recommend to any family for a half term break.

Great site

We stayed here for 3 nights. Great site plenty to. Very frendly wardens. The only down side is the tumble dryer is very expensive as it seems are all club sites unlike non club sites. Apart from that fully recommend.

Great Site

Just had a great weekend here, the visit to Longleat was fab, yes it was pricey, but we used our Tesco club card vouchers, we would highly recommend doing the bus tour around the safari, if you want to go into the monkey enclosure, as the damage to cars we witnessed was amazing. The site was clean and tidy, the wardens were very helpful and friendly. The sound of the sea-lions and the train added to the atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Great site but Longleat has become very expensive

We have been visiting this site off and on for the past 20 years and up until now have found it great value for money. We used to be able to visit the grounds of Longleat, taking tea in the café, enjoying the gardens, shopping all included in the price. Now, however, you have to have a valid day ticket (costing £32 each!) just to go to the shops or tearoom. The entry prices have almost doubled in recent years, which is unfortunate as this was the main attraction for us as a family. We don't plan on going again as there are many other caravan parks which are much cheaper nearby.
