Clean & tidy site - you CANNOT walk through Longleat Park

Large clean site with the best information room I've come across and excellent shower blocks - BUT - There is no nearby pub or shop - it's miles to a pub without transiting Longleat - and uphill There is an entrance to the park right by the site - but you cannot walk nor cycle through it unless buying a day ticket- £40 each Traffic starts through that entrance (work vehicles) at 7am (it's just behind the childrens' playground) The park VIP entrance (which you can use) is 10 minutes walk up the road - and you can cycle through the park (beautiful) right by Longleat House to a lovely pub, The Bath Arms, with good food - but YOU CANNOT WALK THROUGH without paying for a day ticket. We did actually gain special permission from security to walk to the Bath Arms as it was my wife's birthday and it took 55 minutes each way from the site. On a bicycle there is no challenge. We were stopped by security in a roving car on the way back but as we'd pre-arranged our passage we were left to carry on. You cannot exit the park on a bicycle using the entrance/exit right by the campsite entrance you have to go the long way round. We were kept awake by the constant barking of sea lions, they are noisy! All in all an excellent site if you are visiting Longleat - though I wouldn't drive a motorhome through the monkey enclosure - so mainly for caravans I would think.

Wow, just fantastic!

On arrival we were met by very friendly wardens who were extremely helpful. The site is large but the pitches are too and well spaced out, everywhere was so clean and well tended. The toilet, shower etc blocks were spotless and the showers lovely and warm. We went for the purpose of meeting up with family on site and spending time in Longleat which can be accessed just outside the campsite reception. However, the staff on the site made us feel so welcome with nothing too much trouble that we didn't want to leave. All in all we had a perfect weekend away, great day in Longleat and the only noise on the campsite was the sound of the sea lions which was a treat. We will go back if only for that. Thank you Longleat Campsite Team you were all brilliant!!!

Great site

What a wonderful campsite. The staff were friendly and helpful, the pitches are a great size, there is a small park for the children and great for walking the dog. It was the perfect start to our holiday. We went for the Balloon festival and wasn't disappointed, Sunday morning was waken by a whoosh went to look and the sky was filled with hot air balloons flying just over the treetops, the festival its self was amazing. Then Monday when we thought it was over again woken to the sound of the balloons flying overhead. Totally amazing will definitely go back again even if its just to hear the seals who were very vocal but sounded awesome.

Nice site, miles from anywhere (except the safari park)

This is a beautiful and spacious site, very well maintained and with great facilities. The only problem is that there’s nothing nearby, not even a pub. The nearest bus stop is nearly two miles away. There’s a nice walk to Cley Hill (about six miles round trip, with no pubs passed on the way), but that’s about it, if (like us) you don’t plan to visit the safari park. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you just want to chill on site, or have some form of transport with you.

Theft, Damage and Rudest Staff in the CAMC!

Joined the CAMC to stay specifically here as my wife and daughter are animal mad! So was very excited for our first trip to the club. Stayed over bank holiday weekend for what should have been a fantastic trip with my family. Won't be staying again. Staff (except Pat!) awfully rude, unhelpful and unresponsive. Mass theft and damage to many, many campers. Could have been avoided if they'd kept on top of the membership rules, as was many many incidents prior to this. Looking forward to a formal response.

Lovely visit with some disappointments

We only stayed for 3 nights, mainly to visit Longleat. The booking in was painless with the wardens explaining everything we needed to know. At this point we were a little disappointed to find out that Longleat had removed the discounted tickets for the park, they had also stopped visitors walking through he park to access the local pub. The site was really empty, considering it was the middle of August!! As previously stated be aware that every ticket you need is the park is individually price and it can become expense. We really enjoyed our stay, listening to the sea lions in the evening and the lions in the morning.

Not what we expected

We have been to this site before several years ago, things have changed, you can't go into the Longleat estate even for a walk, unless you pay for a ticket, prices for any attraction are quite an additional cost so you should bear this in mind when booking, this limits a walk to one that we could find to the Royal Oak.our visit is I mid August found the site with more than plenty of Wasps!!! Not pleasant to sit out, could not eat outside ,new due to the numbers of wasps! Our visit planned to include fishing at the Shearwater lake owned by the Longleat Estate ,no fishing at present we are told due to blue algie in the water, this was a disappointment ,but nothing to do with the caravan and motorhome club.Site was clean and well controlled. And a good welcome on arrival.

Lovely, Well Run Site

Great site. We were particularly impressed with the wealth of local information available as well as the friendly wardens. A special mention for Dave ' Thank you for your help in our hour of need '

Awesome staff, awesome site

Had a fantastic stay there. Great for families. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and keep the campsite immaculate. Lovely flat ground. Very handy having 3 toilet/wash area blocks. Lovely hearing the sea lions, lions and wolfs from the campsite. Very handy location for Longleat / Cheddar Gorge / Stonehenge etc. Nice they had an enclosed dog walk area for letting the dogs roam free. Good gaming area for the children it had table tennis, pool, large outside connect 4, checkers and more. We had very good Wi-Fi from the sight Wi-Fi, we don't watch a tv when away so we cant comment on the tv reception. Really looking forward to going back again in the near future. Highly recommend.
