How do you measure an atmosphere of discomfort?
We are all travellers.
We were just passing through on the way from scotland to portugal in november and stayed at this site on the way. It felt uncomfortable having to complain to the site managers about a derelict motorcaravan parked adjacent to reception; tattered and torn tent tied on with string, housing an alsation dog; bits of vehicle which had been removed lying around creating the impression of a car breakers yard.
The site managers were, of course, polite when they explained that the members in the 'van had a right to be there.
They were not able to explain why they were unable to police anti-social behaviour as evidenced by the state of that area of the site immediately adjacent to the office.
They did say that they got no support from the club on this issue, and asked us to send a photo of the pitch and 'van to the club!
We never did see the occupants of the 'van.
They are not the problem. The acceptance of what they are doing is the real issue.
The discomfort of all involved is creating a terrible atmosphere for all travellers using the site.
