Commercial Vehicles!!!

I have to agree with Ricky63. We come here often as we like the location and the size of the site however, this time there were several white vans on site. I always understood the club's rules forbade this but on reading through them it seems not any longer? One van in particular was in and out of the site very early and very late and as we were pitched on the exit road right by the barrier we found this a bit unnerving. Has the club scrapped the rules on commercial vehicles? This is not the only site we have noticed this trend. Okay, some people have nice camper style vans as their tow vehicles which is quite acceptable, white Transit vans complete with ladders and men in builders attire are not. The wardens were, as always, extremely polite and helpful and the facilities lovely and clean so we will still come here once a year but I wish the Club would get back to the standards we all expect.

Comment from the Club:

Thank you for your review. We were sorry to read you felt your stay was disturbed.

As an inclusive organisation, and bearing in mind the law on these matters, the Club does not have a policy that discriminates against any particular individuals / groups and commercial vans are allowed on Club sites. However, in support of the original ethos of the Club, the Bye-Laws (Section 10.3 – Code of Behaviour) do make it clear that membership usually precludes anyone who is not using our Sites purely for recreational purposes.

The vast majority of our members enjoy the Club Sites and Certificated Locations on offer through membership without any problems/concerns. Where we become aware of anyone that abuses the benefits of membership then we act swiftly to investigate and address that situation.  With the size of membership that we enjoy, which helps fund the facilities everyone benefits from, you will appreciate that diversity across our membership is inevitable. While Site Staff will be vigilant to try and identify and mitigate the opportunity for any unwelcome behaviour at the earliest possible stage, they also take care to only intervene when clearly warranted.

Once again, I am sorry you felt your holiday was spoiled. We have noted the comments you have made and these will be passed onto the Regional Manager who looks after Littlehampton Club Site.

Bye Law 10 (3) covers this. Perhaps the Club have given permission for the business or trade use if that is what it was.

What did the Warden say at the time?

This review is probably why the club has such a reputation for being snobby.

I don't know. I was not on site but a review in the same time period describe yobbish behaviour and so there may be good reason for the review rather than just white vans

This reviewer doesn't mention poor behaviour though. Doesn't seem to like vans and builders.

The previous time this came up was the final outcome not that staying on a site while doing work was perfectly fine, as long as one was not working there.

Which I though odd as The Caravan Club have no way of knowing what someone is doing on their VPN.

Read the two other reviews for same week however. Extracts beneath:

'First few nights was quiet then vans turned up driving the wrong way on site Speeding not keeping to the site rules Then 1 o'clock in the morning there was arguments banging shouting . The children was allowed to play in the toilets and spraying water from the hose '

'However on this occasion, we were a little apprehensive to find a number of white vans coming and going at all times early and late'

When I have been on site with an odd guy working local I have had no problem. They were all generally considerate as most folk are. There are exceptions and maybe this was one such exception?

Could well be. That is the impression gathered. Wasn't the dates in line with half term?
