Aromas of wood and chocolate
We spent a couple of nights on site as first time visitors to Wales, although we hadn't ventured far because we managed to walk back into England across the Chirk Aqueduct. A walk to Chirk Castle was disappointing because I like to photograph olde worlde castles that have seen battles and attacks and this one looks as if it has just been built, or rebuilt, with a few TV aerials added to the roof.
Chirk is a steady walk down a very narrow road which allows many lorries to regularly access the local industrial estate, where woodworking and manufacturing takes place and the chocolate factory. It may not be Cadbury's any more, but it smells good enough - and there can't be any calories in a few lungfuls of chocolate vapours. New wardens just moved to the site, really friendly and helpful - facilities are OK, if a bit tired, and kept tidy and clean. Pity we can't clean the showers effectively after use with a mop, and a greater pity that the squeegee or the floor is not straight, so this is ineffective. Oh how we dream of having a mop to dip in the wet shower base then we can wipe away the suds and the talc before we leave, or perhaps the shower water contains too many unsafe chemicals from the chocolate factory. Would like to return here, if only on our way further afield. Recommended..
