This site has always been one of my favourite sites so much so we try and stay at least twice a year. The refurbishment was long overdue and has been done to a high standard. The pros are the increased number of pitches and additional toilet/shower facilities, the much improved bistro and the added safety of the security barrier system. The cons for me are the two new toilet/showers which are attached to the bistro, if the club has taken the time and expense to add additional facilities then why only have two toilets and two showers added, at busy times six of each in total isn't enough and this would have been an ideal opportunity to add more although the additional ones are completed to a very high standard so well done. When ever we visit we always use the bistro so it was great to see it had improved and increased in size and on a summers day I think it will be excellent sitting on the outside seating area. It's hard criticising your favorite site although I see it as constructive, but I think there are one or two things letting it down. Firstly it was a shame that the original bistro staff no longer work there although the new staff were polite and helpful. My problem was that the menu should have been less fancy and more home cooked I think the club is trying to make it appear to be a restaurant rather than a club site bistro, keep it simple, we had two meal errors out of the four meals ordered so a 50% success isn't the best of service on offer. There should also be an area of seating for customers who wanted to use the facilities for socialising only or watching sporting events on TV (if the Club hadn't removed it). None of my negatives would put me off going back because it still remains one of my favourite sites. I do agree with one of the other reviewers who pointed out that it's so hard to get a pitch here that the improvements are likely to attract more guests which could make booking even harder. Friends who tried to book couldn't because it was apparently full however there was always at least two pitches available at any one time so I would suggest phoning the site if in doubt and not rely on the website. Over all excellent site with some excellent facilities. Well done.
