Snowy Break
We arrived on this lovely site the day before Storm Emma and the Beast from the East visited Britain, hence we had a very snowy 5 days - which was amazing. This was our first visit to the site, although we know the area quite well and we enjoyed Harrogate (10 minutes away - well worth a visit, especially Bettys tea rooms) and a trip up to James Herriott's home town of Thirsk (20 miles from the site). We didn't visit the World of James Herriott this time, but having been before, we would highly recommend it.
The site itself is very well laid out and the staff (who are lovely) kept the essential areas well gritted. The shower blocks are beautifully clean and warm, and as most people's waste and water inlets on caravans and motor homes had frozen, the facilities were very welcome. The underfloor heating in the dishwashing room made washing up a pleasure (almost!)
We visited the Bistro / Bar on the Friday evening and were very well looked after by the friendly staff. We recommend the Beef burgers, although we defy you to eat them without dismantling them - the stack of salad, burger and onion rings was taller than our glasses of wine! We think this is a great addition to the site and hope the C&MC consider this facility on other sites.
The only observation we would make is that dogs should not be allowed in the eating area.
Otherwise a great site. We will return.
