Our first visit to Knaresborough and it won't be our last. The site was immaculate, the public transport links great and a good taxi service(who will take dogs) The wardens were friendly and helpful and there was always one shower block open. The new shower block is beautiful. A 35 min walk along a lit footpath takes you into Knaresborough, which is a pleasant town with some lovely places to eat (The Mitre and Carriages are both recommended) You can also walk along Nidd Gorge. There is also a pub with food 500yds away. The Wanderer bar and bistro is a great asset-good food at fair prices, right on site and a pleasant outdoor terrace for good weather. If you are concerned about noise, don't be- we pitched opposite the bistro (pitch 6) and there was no noise at all, and it shuts promptly at 10pm to ensure everyone gets their beauty sleep. The only sounds we heard were the birds in the morning and the farmer's tractor going up the lane behind us.Highly recommended.
