Like a new pin
This is the second club site we have been to as we prefer the inexpensive CL sites. So as a winter treat we thought to give the site a try.
On arrival we had a warm welcome and was told we could pick any free pitch then come back to reception for a key fob for the electric barrier system. We pitched up and my Wife went down to reception with our little dog to collect a barrier key. She got a telling off from staff for bringing the Dog into the reception. Now, there are no signs anywhere whatsoever that states 'no dogs', the reception is rather large and very sparse save for a long counter and a collection of keys hung up on the back wall and that's it, no food for sale, nothing but bare walls and a counter.
Everything on site is very new and spotless with all the usual club site services laid on. The toilet-shower blocks are so clean you could eat your dinner off the surfaces. There is a new Bistro which looked very modern but we didn't try it out due to another reviewer mentioned the bar prices. Pitching up was very easy with no adjustment levelling. There is a local Pub within spitting distance called the Guy Fawkes Arms. They welcome dogs in the main bar, we didn't eat in the restaurant but as I am fairly local I know it is regarded as one of the best in the area for food.
The site is actually in a village called Scotton and the market town of Knaresborough is a couple of miles down the road. There is a beautiful riverside walk into Knaresborough from a small car park up the road south on the right. The village of Ripley is not too far away that has a famous ice cream parlour that usually has massive cues outside on a weekend. Also in Ripley is Ripley castle and grounds with a large lake to wander around. The gardens and lake area are free admission most weekends. In the village is a pub called 'The Boars Head' that does fine dining.
To be fair you could spend a month at the site and still not see all that is on offer in a twenty odd mile radius. If you do your research before hand you wont be disappointed.
All in all we had a wonderful weekend of doing absolutely nothing on a very clean and tidy site. I think the sites reception would do very well if it served as a shop selling essentials including blue and pink please, as we nearly ran out. Maybe that is in the pipeline.
