Great site

We stayed here for 3 nights in late February 2018. The site was very clean and tidy, and the toilet / shower blocks were spotless. The wardens were great too. New wardens are due anytime soon and I understand they intend to stock the reception with essentials (as it's a bit sparse at the moment). There is some construction work going on at the entrance to the site but it didn't affect us really. The site is very convenient for visiting nearby Knaresborough and some of the other towns in the area such as Harrogate. As a motorhomer, we rely on walking, cycles or public transport and this site is good for all three. Knaresborough is a 2 mile walk along a straight road with a footpath along he length of it. We did try to get there via Nidd Gorge but I think we took a wrong turn somewhere. The Guy Fawkes pub near the site (approx 400-600m) is well worth a visit. Good food and beer, real fire and a nice country pub atmosphere. The bistro on site is a pale imitation. We thought it lacked atmosphere and the food, whilst plentiful, wasn't anywhere near as good as the pub. It's a shame because I think a bistro is a nice addition to CAMC sites. I suspect the outdoor area will make the bistro popular in better weather. We didn't use the public transport system but there is a bus stop outside the site with buses to York and Harrogate (via Knaresborough). Overall, a great site and one we would like to return to.
