kinlochewe site august 2021

strange site , you turn up ,no wardens , leave your club cards in their post box and find a space and park. return to office after 5 pm and inform wardens which pitch you are on . it is like a lorry pitch , all hard core stones and never saw any grass. wasnt too untidy although shrubs were back to nature ,ie full of weeds etc. toilets were all clean enough but the shower electric button controls pure annoying , needing pressed every 9 seconds... friendly enough wardens and i found it a pleasant 4 nights.stay . Expect midges and you wont be disappointed .nothing puts them off either ,not sun ,not strong breezes, not rain , nothing ....you will be bitten , trust me. .Dragging a caravan to here from Morvich site is not for nervous folk either , roads like rollercoasters , narrow tracks with passing places , everyone in a hurry and impatient. But theres 3 lovely walks up into the hills just off the site , through a Nature Reserve , good for dogs and mountain bikers..shops nearby can give you milk , cakes etc Would not recommend this site for tent campers unless the tent was super mozzie proof. . Inverewe Gardens was great if your into gardening and not too far away .Gairloch was close too but i found it disappointing , busy and with a horrible beach .Its a bit of a drive to get to Kinlochewe but it was on my bucket list so now its done . i do not think i would travel so far north again , theres nicer places further down into the Cairngorms. .Not very child friendly either ,although saw a group of kids making their own fun charging around the site for hours playing chasey , all scratching furiously. summarise , great site for some , but not for me , i do not think i would return .
