Lovely relaxing site
We stayed for 10 nights on a fully serviced pitch in mid-June 2023. The pros far out way the cons. The setting is delightful with pitches in quiet and peaceful shady glades. Welcoming and friendly staff, clean facilities. Good location from which to explore the South Lakeland area with Windermere and the lake cruises, aquarium, motor museum and heritage railway 30 minutes away and Coniston Water only a little further. Thoroughly recommend Sunday roast at the very nearby Strickland Arms.
Points to be aware of - the single track approach road is poorly maintained and pot holed (probably not Club owned). The site TV booster is tuned to the Kendal relay mast which only transmits 16 DTV channels (including radio stations). The trees may make satellite and your own TV aerial reception impossible. Perhaps the Club could consider site booster re-alignment to the main TV transmitter at Lancaster. Some site routes around the 2 toilet/shower blocks maybe very steep for those with difficulties walking. Finally, the birds start singing around 4am. It's beautiful to hear but just be warned if you're a light sleeping, non-morning person!!
