Wow!- what a fantastic woodland setting

We have recently returned from this fantastic site and already can’t wait to return- it’s a long time since we were here last and had forgotten what a fabulous setting this is ! The woodland was at its best with an abundance of bird life and wild flowers in full bloom- the scent of the wild garlic was amazing- I can imagine this site is spectacular at all times of the year, but especially now in late spring. We couldn’t fault anything, I’ve read other people’s reviews, yes the access is down a narrow lane, not unusual, there are ample passing places, the odd pot hole, none of this directly related to the site, that’s more of an issue for the national trust to address? Every member of the wardening team were outstanding- very pleasant and helpful, always cheerful, we felt very welcomed from the start right throughout our weeks visit- a lesson for some sites surely here ? The layout of this site is perfect, shaded or sunny spots, take your pick, we particularly appreciated the thoughtful idea of placing a cone out for our longer outfit, the pitch was perfect, a really helpful touch. Anyone thinking of visiting the Lake District - check this site out you will not be disappointed- very easy to find from junction 36 of the M6, with the ability to travel from the sites to the busier areas then retreat back to tranquillity!
