Simply Idyllic

We stayed here from October 17th for 7 nights and what a relaxing week it was. The wardens are helpful and friendly but except for their day to day duties extremely low profile. Apparently the biggest complaint they get is about the trees and the narrow roadways on the site. Firstly, if you don't want trees, don't book into a site that states it is "set in National Trust Woodland". Secondly, if you stick to the site speed limit the roadways are fine for even the lowest skilled driver. We noticed very few drivers on site seemed to be able to take this fact in. This is a beautiful site with several walks starting from the front gate, ranging fron 2.5 to 5 miles and covering a variety of terrains. The peace and quiet is exquisite and the wildlife around the site (Nuthatches, Great Tits, Green Woodpeckers etc) a joy to watch. The pitches are generous in size- however some seem to have flint a few inches below the surface which made pitching an awning rather challenging, even with hard ground pegs. All in all we loved the site and we will be definitely returning next year.
