Good for families

One of our favourites...

We keep returning to this site as we love the setting in the woodland. The site is spread over a large area and had a different feel to most other sites as you don't feel like you are in a field with lots of other caravans. Instead you are amongst trees in little areas, usually with a handful of other caravans at most and this makes for a very peaceful stay. The facilities are usual CMC standard - spotlessly clean and there are two shower/WC blocks on the site. There are lovely walks; down the river to Kendal or through the woods to the farm shop where we usually get our breakfast and sit outside with our dog (there is an indoor cafe for those without a canine companion). A little bit further on is a great pub serving food: The Strickland Arms which has a beer garden, great on a sunny day. The only downside is that a lot of the pitches on site are shaded by the trees. However we feel that the superb location and beautiful woodland is worth it.
