Lovely site, lots of places to go.

Kendal is an interesting site with small closes of pitch sites spread amongst the trees. As a motor-home user there is only one place to fill the water tank and this entails travelling around the site and out again once you have filled up then back in again to find a pitch. There was a queue of 3 ahead of us so we decided to find our pitch first to reduce our risk of not finding a suitable pitch for our 4 night stay. We chose number 26 which is well tucked away and is in a very quiet setting. The site was full throughout our stay. The band system for controlling numbers in the toilet blocks worked well but we always shower very early in the morning so there was never a wait. No hairdryers in action. Most people seem to be using their on board facilities as much as possible to maintain safety. Plenty of hand sanitizer available to use at toilet blocks in/out. Everywhere was usual high standard and wardens were very pleasant. No shop at the moment although chemicals are available. We walked to the Sizergh Farm shop and cafe once we were set up and had a good lunch. The second day we returned at 9.00am. for breakfast which was also very good. We had booked into NT Sizergh and walked there after breakfast. Lovely gardens but it was too wet to enjoy much more. We visited Penrith for a day with my sister to go to our parent’s grave and enjoyed the town, having an excellent lunch at Woodstone Pizza & Flame Grill in Princess Street. On our final day we walked into Kendal which felt less than 4.5 miles and got our breakfast in a small cafe on the right as we went towards the town centre. The Union Jack Cafe was working very hard to keep afloat and the food was great. Good shopping in the town then we took the 555 bus to Ambleside, back to Windermere then back to the roundabout (Brettagh Holt RA) near the site where the stop is on the sliproad, before walking along the lane back to site. The 555 goes to both Keswick and Lancaster every 30 minutes and is an excellent service. Perfect if you have a bus pass. Great site for a varied holiday and close to the Lakes and Dales. Thanks to the hard working staff.
