This is a great site , one of my favourites. the walks from site are splendid. Sizergh castle and Levens Hall are within walking distance and are spectacular places to visit. Walks around the site and river are attractive. Ask the Warden for an information sheet on the Gunpowder works, ruins of which cover the site; fascinating. The only downsides are the lack of a shop on site; The internet access is abysmal and don't expect the plug in TV to work further up the site. This includes all the serviced pitches. You may think you have paid for this facility but you will be told in no uncertain terms that you have not, so hard luck. Dogs off leads and barking are a common problem, never addressed. Yes the approach road is dreadful but you're missing a treat if you let that put you off.
