Alone but not lonely
This was the first time that I have stayed on a club site on my own and I was a bit nervous about it. I soon discovered that my fears were unfounded. On arrival, the wardens were friendly and helpful and suggested a couple of pitches where I would not be isolated and would be close to the loo block. I chose my pitch and almost as soon as I pulled up a fellow camper came over to help me pull onto my pitch and while I was pulling my awning into the rail, someone else arrived to give me a hand. Throughout the week, people stopped and chatted. The site itself is a delight. Wild daffodils were in profusion. A woodpecker was hammering away at a nearby tree and I just loved the woodland atmosphere. I walked into Kendal using a route supplied by the wardens which went alongside the River Kent. They had produced it because they were asked how to walk into the town. Local buses can be reached from the site, although it is a bit of a hike as is the very popular Strickland Arms, but well worth it. My only reservation is that the dish-washing area is outside and very chilly. That is a minor gripe compared to everything else and I certainly hope to return. Many thanks to the wardens for their friendly help.
