Booked to stay as stop over from Scotland trip, access road very poor condition, pleasant reception from staff, were on a hard standing non awning pitch, access was tight with only about 6 inches of space between back of caravan and bank, not enough room in front for car to manoeuvre caravan, no motor mover so had to manually spin caravan on pitch. Slightly off level side to side but unable to use ramps due to not being able to move caravan.
Site very quiet, facilities clean but could have been more of for size and spread of site. Have to watch out for Wardens speeding around site on electric golf cart. Speed bumps only to half of roadway.
Access times important due to access road.
Would visit again
Fantastic Stay
What a lovely hidden gem. We were blessed with lovely weather but also had a great pitch in a secluded spot. The walk by the river is gorgeous and the wardens could not have been more friendly or helpful. One point though, on the exit from the site people had dropped dog poo bags, I just cannot understand why decent people would do this, one nearly did a lot of damage to our puppy who had to be taken to the vets for emergency treatment. Again the wardens could not have helped us more. A wonderful stay and we will definitely be going back, but depressing to think that a minority of folk can behave irresponsibly.
A wonderful welcome
We arrived to spend just a couple of nights to check out our new vehicle and received a first class welcome from the staff. Our first visit to this site and it did not disappoint, lovely clean facilities, a quiet forest setting with lovely walks around for our dog . The only downside is there is no kids play area, a forest play trail would be good.
Excellent site with some serious downsides
A beautiful
site with a layout very different from the usual regimented pitches. Friendly, helpful, staff and good facilities. But there are some downsides. Despite being in the ‘silver’ Wi-Fi category, the service was, in fact, hopeless. We (and we were by no means alone) didn’t manage to connect once in ten days, despite drawing the attention of staff to the problem. The TV connections on our EHU were both broken. But far, far, more serious, was the almost total disregard of the 5mph speed limit (even, I’m afraid to say, by members of staff in their electric buggies). Our pitch was adjacent to a site roadway and it was not at all unusual to see vehicles travelling at speeds in excess of 15mph (and on at least three occasions at a speed I calculated to be in excess of 20mph). This pitch (and others like it) would have been extremely dangerous for anyone with children. There are a few ‘sleeping policemen’ on site roads but by no means enough. I have been a Club member for 35 years and this is just about the worst site speeding I have ever seen. The Club really needs to do more to curb this dangerous behaviour.

Magic
Yet another visit to Kendal Club Site. As always a warm welcome was at hand on arrival. Within ten minutes we were pitched and unpacking. A wonderful site for a quiet and relaxing stay in a woodland. You can do as much or as little ad you want, knowing that you are only ten minutes from Kendal, for all the things you could need. The old works are visible and plenty of information about it can be found in the information room, or on line. The staff were always at hand for any questions or problems you may have. I had a wee problem and thanks to Jo for sorting it out. Will be back…..

Lovely site
Lovely site with pitches set in a wooded hillside, especially beautiful as the bluebells and wild garlic were in bloom when we visited. Nice clean facilities.
Beautiful bluebells
We stayed here at the end of April when the bluebells were in bloom in the woods and it was absolutely beautiful. Our pitch was in sunshine from 10am in the morning to 6.30 at night and in a little hollow out of the wind.
You can walk in a different direction each day without needing to use your car- we walked along the river to Kendal, along the disused canal to Levens Hall and through the fields to Sizergh Castle. A walk to see the sunset on Scout Scar is also recommended. Had a good meal at the Strickland Arms , only 15 minutes walk away, and the farm shop at Sizergh barn is great.
The warden (Peter) even drove round to bring our gate key to our friend's pitch as we had gone straight round there on arrival without giving them our pitch number- service with a smile!

Perfect
This was our second trip to this site. For us it is the perfect site, as it is different from other club sites by the way it is laid out. We love the cul de sac areas for five or six vans which gives the feeling of being on a CL with the benefits of a regular club site. From the site there are some lovely walks along the river, also one to the farm shop and from there a short walk to a nice pub serving great food. The wardens were very good and helpful and kept the place spotless. We are sorting our dates out to return again next year.
Peaceful and idyllic
A wonderful site in the heart of woodland full of wild flowers and birds. Lots of excellent walks direct from site plus the higher Lakeland fells are not far away. A haven for dogs and their owners.
Located on the edge of the Lake District but so much more peaceful than the honeypot areas of Windermere, Ambleside and Keswick.
The Strickland Arms pub nearby is perfect for an end of walk drink or good meal. Dog friendly.

An absolute gem!
We visited Kendal for one night on our way from Gloucestershire to Scotland. Never been before but what a gem of a site!
For those who don't like the regimented rows of vans on some club sites, this might be for you. Caravans, motor homes and campers are nestled in small groups in woodland. The site is on many levels and the pitches are gravelled but may not all be completely level so levelling blocks/ramps may be required.
The site is picturesque with a watercourse running through it and when we were there, there was an abundance of wild garlic, bluebells and May and the scents were lovely.
TV reception on our pitch, (100), was fine as was internet on 3/4G.
The toilet blocks are quite small but perfectly adequate and as we have come to expect at CAMC sites, spotless.
There is a good 30 minute walk from the site to the excellent Strickland Arms pub which is mainly level and easy especially in dry weather. (There are two fields to cross).
We were blessed with lovely spring weather so maybe that has influenced this review but we loved the site and it's on the list to return.
