Visited the Site in late April, having used the Site many times, travelling on the M6. Enjoy the natural surroundings, riverside walks and the high Club standards.
We booked three nights, but left early due to noise from our adjacent pitch. An adult couple, no kids, who insisted on sitting in their awning and talking loudly until 1 am. After lying in bed listening to their incessant chatter I finally rattled our window in an attempt to quieten them down.
We complained to the wardens, who refunded our fee and we left early.
We will use the Site again, probably, but I post this in the hope that the perpetrators may read this posting and modify their behaviour.
Never before had this experience on a Club Site !
RETURN visit already booked
Kendal CC Site is beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. The site is managed by a fun and friendly team of wardens who always have time to smile and share a kind word. We have returned today from a 4 day break and have already been online to book our return trip.
THANK YOU and see you all again soon.
Back to nature !!
Before we go off anywhere i always read the reviews so that i can see what is happening on the site we are visiting . I read a review on here that said that Kendal was looking " Shabby " !! i was quite concerned by this as when we visited last year we found everything to be spot on ! anyway fear not as it still is spot on , i cant believe anyone can refer to this site as shabby . We received the warmest of welcomes from the new wardens and headed to our pitch where we found that there had been a lot of coppicing done to make the area a lot lighter and let the sun through the trees !! We had recently visited a private site in Anglesey and paid twice the price of Kendal but the facilities could not hold a candle to those at Kendal , they are clean and very cared for , and much more modern that a lot of other C/C sites. We managed to fit in all of our favourite things to do at Kendal , walk to the Barn ,and have coffee and yummy cakes, go along the river and let the dogs paddle, go into the woods at the back of the site and smell the wild garlic and see the first sign of the bluebells coming up and let the dogs run their little legs off ! We watched the little boy next to us go off with grandad to Dam the stream and cook marshmallows on his barbecue , better than video games in his bedroom !! So all in all if you like nature and woodland and being awoken to the sound of birdsong this is the site for you.
Great Site
Lovely quiet site Wardens were very helpful especially John who was a relief warden he came to my van to sort a problem I had out. There is an organised walk round the site run by the National Trust which was well worth doing just a small contribution expected.
Just one little moan the hand driers in the toilets come on for 2 seconds so you have to keep putting your hands under the hot air pipe to dry them properly, a way of saving electricity I suppose yet the lights on the path to the toilets came on at 6 in the evening but it did not go dark until turned 8 !!
Easter Get Away
I stayed at the Kendal site over the Easter break with my wife and two boys aged 4/6. What a great location within the forest and along the river. You can take walks around the site and a walk up to Sizergh Castle and the fabulous local farm shop is a must. The boys loved seeing the cows get milked whilst having a hot chocolate. The site is perfect for commuting around the lakes so please do not be put off by its southern. I will defiantly be returning and the site is a real asset to the network.
kendal looking a bit shabby
We have been going to Kendal caravan site for many years now but must say it is looking in great need of a complete make over, it really is a bit shabby.
Lovely Easter Break
Our first visit to this lovely site. One of my favourite places to stay, such a peaceful, pretty location. The local walks were great too. Everyone was very friendly : )

Easter visit
We were the last to arrive around 3pm and so had no choice of pitch. Not surprising as it was the Easter weekend. The wardens were really welcoming.
As with many other pitches number 16 allows you to feel part of the woodland. The way the site is designed into many sections divided by woodland gives the impression of a much smaller site. Wherever you are located it isn’t far from one of the two wash blocks both maintained to the usual club standard.
There are lots of lovely walks from the site some besides the river or walk up through the site and into the national trust woodland that leads to Sizergh farm shop, which is brilliantly stocked. It also has a café that serves good food (but was really busy when we visited) and activities for children. We walked to Sizergh castle, a NT property and worth a look around the house and gardens. The Strickland Arms is a welcoming pub providing food, which can be walked to via the woods or the quiet country lane.
Also in walking distance is Levens Hall though we ran out of time to visit so this would be a good excuse to go back. Cycling around the local lanes is lovely though quite hilly in places we decided that the main road into Kendall was too busy to cycle along in a pleasurable way.

what a difference
we came to the lakes on easter monday having booked on lowfellgate caravan site at grange over sands,we arrived to find basically a cowfield on a steep slope in which no way could we get the caravan level, there was a toilet and shower block at the bottom of the hill and that was it,my wife said sod this i,m not staying here,so tuesday morning we got ready and had a drive towards kendal,we came across kendall caravan club site and had a look around went into reception to enquire about spaces for the rest of the week,to our delight we were told there was,so we booked in straight away, went back to our caravan, packed everything up and went and set up at kendall,it made the rest of the week great ,thank you for a great site, apart from the owl which decided to perch in a tree at the back of the van every night.the site was great, spotless toilet and shower block, plenty of hot water, washing up facilites, once again ,thank you.
Mixed Feeling
First time here and after reading the review we were looking forward to our visit. Reception staff very friendly and pointed out the fully services pitches on the site map, so off we went. Found pitch ok and started setting up on nearest area and soon found a problem, due to location of water, drain etc . when we started levelling the caravan out we discovered at the rear of the caravan even with our packing pads we were unable to wind legs down enough due to ground falling away. So we moved the caravan to the next pitch up where the ground looked better, levelled out ok, connected drain ok, power connect up just by going under caravan instead of round it but the water connection was miles away even connecting 2 hoses together we were still unable to connect up.. so packed up and moved to second fully serviced area where we found a level pitch with drain, water and power close (pitch 96), but this had now taken about 2 hours but sorted. On telling reception staff of issues they agreed that many of these fully serviced pitches were not great. The following day our neighbour that arrived had same issue which resulted in the placing caravan sideways to make all connections work. Location of fully serviced pitches are quit away from shower/toilet block so be prepared to use your caravan shower and toilet more.
Site its self was very nice and expect when all trees have leaves on them it would be very picturesque, nice walks around site and great geocaching in the area.
Great thing on Fridays a fish and chip van comes on site between 5pm-8pm and they are really nice but get down early as by 6:30pm fish was sold out but it was good Friday and only there 3rd week there so should get better working out how much fish they need in future.
One last thing we had the power across the whole site go off a lot in the evenings annoying when watching TV.
So mixed feeling about this site.
