Good for families

Perfect apart from inconsiderate dog owners!!!

We are regular visitors to this site. It is very well maintained and clean, in a perfect spot to explore North Norfolk, with very good facilities, apart from variable Wi-Fi quality. There is a station within 400yds of the site for trains to Sheringham, Cromer and Norwich, and coastal buses stop in the village. It is an easy walk to the beach at West Runton. The wardens are very helpful and friendly (we ran out of gas mid barbeque one evening and I made a dash for the site office, which was just being locked up. The warden let me have one of their own cylinders, even though I had no cash to pay them. "No problem, drop it in in the morning"). Our only gripe is that the site attracts lots of dog owners, who treat the site like one big dog walk, allowing them to foul anywhere and everywhere, even right in front of our 'van on a recent visit. I know that they try to clear it up, but there is usually plenty of residue, really not pleasant in hot weather, or when your drag your Aquaroll through it in the dark! This site is very child friendly, with kids running bare footed around on the grass, so this is a serious health hazard too. There are dog walks on several country paths around the site, so why don't they at least try to control their pooches until they are off the site? Equally annoying are the people who let their dogs roam around on long leads / tethers so that they can pee on anything that stands still, including the bins, the water service points, the power hook up towers and the pitch markers. We really love this site, but it would so much better if the wardens stamped out bad behaviour by the many dog owners.

Well I am glad that you have identified the correct culprits in this matter which is obviously the owners and the fact that we cannot always reach the dog walk in time.

We have two Border Terriers and are shocked at the lack of compliance with the rules and total lack of consideration and respect for other site users that abounds on the Caravan Club sites. I have been on private sites where the owners patrol regular and show offenders the error of their way. Yet the Caravan Club provides no 'policing whatsoever' even when there is a vehicle next to you with the awning the 'wrong way round' containing a three wheeled motor cycle reeking of petrol that is on a regular basis ridden across the grass where your chairs are.

The Caravan Club want to get their fingers out instead of avoiding the issue by saying 'we should police ourselves' and get the matter sorted before the sites descend into the ones we all try to avoid.

What is a wrong way round awning? They can go either side providing there is a 3m gap between awnings/cars.

Are you prepared to pay increased fees to have sufficient wardens to patrol the sites and I’d love to hear what the warden said when you reported the awning and the m/c.
