Not up to usual CAMC Standards

Initial welcome was sadly not up to usual friendly CAMC standards, cheerful warden directed us to arrivals area them it went downhill.. Brusque and abrupt would sum up the reception . On entering the site you soon discover why there is a warning about levels, and you end up after a tour of the site settling for a pitch which with the use of levellers will just about do. Fortunately it was dry when we visited or our pitch and many others would have turned into mud baths. Site looks as if it would benefit from some care and attention which would not be cheap, to provide level pitches, more hard standings and cut back gorse bushes and other vegetation which have taken over much of open spaces. On the positive side facilities blocks are well cared for and location of site id good midway between Cromer and Sheringham. Wouldn't go again , probably and its sad to say better options in the area.

Busy site

Stayed at this site for two nights recently, very busy and cramped pitches, we were unlucky to be assigned a pitch next to water point and dustbins , constantly busy with people coming and going to these facilities! even well into the night. We were told we could not deploy our little wind out awning, why? The other major annoyance was that you had to enter a code number to open the toilet door, very inconvenient at night when you are half asleep and can’t remember all the numbers. Now the plus points ,the site is easy to find and is very close to Cromer and the local footpaths, many other places to visit locally ,buses close by to Sheringham etc. All in all for us not a very satisfactory visit. Plenty of other sites around, need to try harder.

One of the nicest big sites

So many beautiful walks from the site. Great facilities with friendly staff and campers. Has a Thai takeaway that was yummy. Lovely cream tea (warm scones) at the corner tea room.

Great site EXCEPT ACCESS ROAD

We spent another 4 night on site from 20th Sept 2021, Always a good site with a variety of pitches. Facilities as always spotless, Even the sun shone brightly all week. However, as for a very long time now the access road is in a terrible state, full of very large pot holes and previously filled in trenches which have now sunk and countless speed bumps. I understand the road is probably not owned by the club however, I think most people would agree including the owners on the bungalows and the golf club 95% of the traffic is club traffic. In my own opinion its about time the club puts it's hand in it's pocket and pay towards the refurbishment soon. The damage caused to vehicle and caravan can be considerable when you think how many time you may go on and off pitch over your stay. We have been using the site over several years now, the road has never been in great condition but this visit was the worst we have seen it. It's not as if we as members don't pay enough for membership and site fee's. This is not just Moaning as I heard several other campers noting this issue. Hopefully we will see an improvement soon. Peefectly fine site and the staff work so hard, still with a smile

Booked for a 4 night stay. A very interesting site with a different layout from what we are used to. Redevelopment is somewhat limited by the golf course that the site wraps around. FOUR! Yes as per previous reviews, the pitches need some workimg out to get as level as possible but not a major issue. We visited late September, but I can imagine that this would be a great site for families during the holidays too. We did cut our visit short and transferred to a sister CAMC site, Seacroft - we needed to have some zoom meetings so needed 4g - we checked across the site, not possible on vodafone or O2. Staff at both sites helped sort the transfer and done with a smile, thank you. For those who aren't trying to check on work, then leave your phone in the glovebox, and enjoy your holiday at this site. Usual good standards of the club.

One of our favourite sites

Yes I know nearly all of the pitches are on grass and yes it's very uneven ground (to say the least), but it's a beautiful site in a beautiful area. We've had so many ace holidays here, both now and when our kiddiwinks were small. This site has lots of space on the pitches - it is nothing like the car park design of some sites. The loo blocks are in very good condition and were always spotlessly clean. It's a big site for grass cutting and you saw the wardens out every morning. We were just a little unfortunate in that the lovely pitch we chose had not been cut before our arrival and as we were there for a fortnight, So long grass all around us about from the big patch in the awning area with no grass at all. There was a bit of misunderstanding with friends before we arrived, over the use/buying of blue toilet fluid. From what was said we thought it must have been banned this year, so rang the club to find out if it was okay to use it and were told by head office that yes it was fine to use it. We had a glorious week walking the coast at West Runton, Cromer, Blakeney, Morston, Cley, Stiffkey, Thornham etc - such a joy. We will be back as soon as possible. Never a year goes by that we don't have at least one holiday at this site.

Nice stay here. very pleased

We stayed here in September and the weather was good to us. We are a couple with two dogs and found dog walking no problem as there are numerous walks and ways to go off the site. Naturally we didn't start our "proper" walk until off site, we also didn't encounter any dog problems on-site. We didn't use the facilities but noticed that toilet blocks were cleaned very regularly, and the reception staff were very nice. Location-wise it is perfect for the north norfolk coast, there is a good camping shop in west Runton and the views from th top of Incleboro hill are amazing!

Excellent Site BUT

On our recent visit to this site (which we have visited many times over the years) We were horrified to see many dog-owning members walking slowly along the grass frontages to pitches and allowing their dogs to foul on the pitch frontages .....This is NOT pleasant and not acceptable. There are dog walks nearby, but the majority of owners prefer to use the grass areas on the site. Not nice on your electric cable !!! We feel this dog fouling problem is getting out of hand. Is it possible to have Dog Free areas on club sites as they do on many commercial sites?.

Loved this site

As we live just 40 minutes away, we had not considered booking a break so close to home. We were booked just for the bank holiday weekend but we extended our stay here to a week (as our main summer holiday had been ruined by me breaking a rib or 2 on 4th day of stay) We are so glad we did. We arrived just before 1pm and joined a long queue but it did clear quickly and the warden greeting us was very friendly The site is well maintained and its a very large site offering terraces and niches everywhere. If you prefer the open areas then this too is an option whereby only trees break up the carpark appearance as on many larger sites. Most pitches are well spaced apart. Most are not level and some are just too uneven for motorhomes but as there are so many pitches finding a more suitable pitch was fairly easy. 4 toilet blocks that are cleaned at different times and all meet the expected standard from the club. There is no dog walk on site but as an alternative if you go just passed reception as if heading out of the site there is a path up Incleboro Hill which offers fabulous views. Its not too far to Sheringham or Cromer if like us you walk/bike. Both offer the usual holiday resort trappings of shops and places to eat/drink. The beach is only minutes away and you can walk either way for miles. The train station is just outside the camp site with regular services or bus is from the village itself. In general the site is peaceful despite its size and number of pitches. Very much back to nature. We loved this site and will be returning On Thursday evening there is a fish and chip van We can only advise you to avoid it Our meal was just awful from the dirty oil making the batter on tiny fish tails uneatable to the luke warm mushy peas, chip portions suitable for children and not being given portion number as stated for the chicken nuggets. Fortunately this time the small portions were a blessing. We can not recommend this site enough, one of the best we have been to so far!

motorhomers beware

A few years back the Club changes it's name to be motorhome inclusive. Sadly it is difficult to image a site less suited to motorhomers. The majority of pitches slope both ways, and even with levelling ramps you be lucky to level up. The Club has not invested a single penny to improve matters.
