The most unwelcome arrival
We arrived 1 1/2 hours early at this site. We were not expecting to drive onto a pitch, but we were not expecting the most unwelcome of arrivals either. The male warden saw us and shook his head, he told me the site was closed and just glared with a stony silence. I asked him what we were supposed to do and asked if we could leave the van on some long grass opposite reception. He then informed me that he would let us know when they were open. I hadn't noticed the car park at this stage. We drove to a supermarket to do some shopping, upon returning my husband checked in with the female warden. He apologised for our early arrival, all she could respond with was 'whatever'. Never ever on any campsite or holiday have we been spoken to in such a dreadful manner and made to feel incredibly uncomfortable. There are ways of addressing people but these people clearly have the inability to do so. Perhaps they should reconsider a non public facing role in future. This experience tainted what seems to be a well maintained site.
Comment from the Club
Thank you for your review. The Site team have been in touch as they wanted to address your concerns. They always try and provide a friendly welcome. However, as you arrived at 10.15am they were unable to assist you as they needed to ensure people have the chance to leave the site before welcoming new guests. The Site Manager politely asked you to park on the grass area in front of reception and that he would give you a shout as soon as possible. This is what they advise all guests who arrive early. If you do plan to arrive early in the future we do recommend that you call the site in advance to make sure this is possible and that you can be accommodated. We hope this helps clear up any confusion.
