A Wonderful Week at Ilfracombe
If you like your sites to have lots of grey gravel pitches and a toilet /shower block, you probably wouldn't consider this site, but you will be missing out by not trying a stay on a wonderful little site.
The site is open and spacious with some lovely views.it is split into two fields, the grass pitches are well spaced and as the site wasn't full we had lots of room. Some of the pitches slope, but others are level. There is a large field for dog walking and another one used as a play area for ball games, although there isn't any play equipment.
The village is a 10 minute stroll away with a community shop and pub, the walk back is uphill so may take a bit longer.😉
There is lots to see and do in the area, we liked Mortehoe and the coastal village of Lee was lovely.Ilfracombe is worth a visit, if only to see Damien Hurst 's "Verity" statue. Ilfracombe has a Tesco and a Lidl for shopping, but venture into the High Street and you will find a couple of butchers and a nice bakery.Exmoor is also within easy reach for a day trip.
Motor Homers may find the site a little remote as there is only one bus which goes to Barnstaple.
I would like to say a big thankyou to the wardens who were very welcoming and friendly, and when I rang to see if anyone had found a set of keys, checked our pitch, found them and said they would post them back.☺
Dog owners planning to visit the area are advised to check their dog for ticks after any walks, especially along the coastal path.
We loved this quiet little site, and will use it again when we visit the area.
